Thomas Overcash Obituary

Thomas Lee Overcash, 82, of Salisbury, NC passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at Autumn Care of Salisbury.

Thomas was born November 11, 1942 in Rowan County, NC to the late Leroy Walter Overcash and Bernice Byrd Overcash.

Mr. Overcash attended Boyden High School and Stauton Military Academy. He graduated from Catawba College with a bachelor's degree in business. As president of Independent Linen Service, the family business, Mr. Overcash had a great knack for transitioning and adapting the business with changes in the world. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Salisbury, volunteering his time and serving as an elder with the church. He enjoyed spending time in the Charleston area and Isle of Palms with his wife, Linda. Mr. Overcash was an avid storyteller; he enjoyed hunting and his dogs. Spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him much joy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda File Overcash on May 15, 2018 and sister, Frances “Rock” Cartmell.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Glenn Overcash (Loanna) of Gaithersburg, MD; daughters, Mary Ellen Kennedy (Tony) of Salisbury, NC; Donna Clements (Runcie) of Franklin, TN; and Margaret White (Don) of Greensboro, NC; brother, Steve Overcash (Betsy) of Salisbury, NC; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

After a family graveside service, a Celebration of Life Service will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Monday, October 13 at noon. A reception will be held immediately following the service in Lewis Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Faithful Friends of Salisbury, NC, 220 Grace Church Road, Salisbury, NC 28147.
