Timothy W. Gordon

KANNAPOLIS - Timothy Wayne Gordon, age 53, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2013, at the Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis, after a declining illness of two years.

He was born Oct.26, 1959, in Mecklenburg County, the son of the late Henry Lee Gordon and Norma Joyce Blackwell Gordon.

Tim was a stockcar racer practically all of his life having started working on an old Chevrolet Nova. He participated in late model stockcar racing on dirt and asphalt tracks over the years. Tim was also a self-employed general contractor for many years.

His love of his family, especially his grandchildren, were top priorities in his life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Lee (Rick) Gordon Jr.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Regina Cromer Gordon; two children, Christopher Wayne Gordon and wife Jessica and Amber Gordon Thomas and husband Bryan, both of Kannapolis; three grandchildren, Allison, Cole and Bryleigh; one brother, Bobby Gordon and Phyllis of Mooresville; a niece and nephew, Patrick and Ashley Gordon; his mother-in-law, Jane Cromer of Kannapolis; and stepmother Patricia Gordon of Belmont.

Service: The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 19 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, officiated by Rev. Debi Madden. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, June 18 at the funeral home. The remainder of the time, the family will be at his residence.
