Vernon E. Buck

Vernon E. Buck, 91, of Granite Quarry, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2025.

He was born March 29, 1934, in Binghamton, NY, to the late Ruth Krause Buck. Mr. Buck was a graduate of Livingston Manor High School in Livingston Manor, NY. Following high school he enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Korean War while being stationed in Germany. The experience and training he received in the Army lead him to a 30 year career with IBM. He loved to fish, especially for salmon and trout.

In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his son, Curtis Jon Buck, Sr.; daughter-in-law, Penny Vosburg Buck; and brothers Paul and Norman Buck.

Mr. Buck is survived by his wife Linda Buck, whom he married August 30, 1958; children who will remember him as the "best dad ever," Kristian Buck of Vestal, NY, Cynthia Hamilton (Todd) of Dade City, FL, and Karin Buck of Granite Quarry; sister, Marion Roberts (John) of West End; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Sunday, June 29, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Salisbury (930 South Main Street, Salisbury, NC 28144), with a reception to follow where the family will greet friends and relatives.

A graveside service will be held at 12:30 PM on Monday, June 30, at Salisbury National Cemetery (501 Statesville Boulevard, Salisbury, NC 28144) with military honors conducted by the Rowan County Veterans Honor Guard and the North Carolina National Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Breakthrough Type 1 Diabetes (Formerly JDRF) (205 Regency Executive Park Drive- Suite 102, Charlotte NC 28127) or to St. Paul's Episcopal Church (930 South Main Street, Salisbury, NC 28144).
