Amy Jensen Obituary

Amy Prestmann Olsen Jensen
1930-2018
Amy Prestmann Olsen Jensen - "Farmor", as known to everyone. Our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend passed away very peacefully early Friday morning, July 27, 2018 in the privacy of her home in Holladay, Utah.
Amy went to bed Thursday evening, happier than she had ever been in more than a decade, and woke up with her Heavenly Father, numerous other family members and friends who have passed before her.
Amy was born July 12, 1930 in Aalborg, Denmark to Peter and Nelly Olsen. She lived through the German Occupation of Denmark during World War II, and wow, she had some stories to tell about that! Her family of five departed Denmark on December 9, 1946 to immigrate to the United States. Back then, it required four families in the US to sponsor you, her parents could not have jobs waiting for them, and if they did not get a job within a fairly short period of time after arriving, the sponsors had to pay to send you back.
Amy was humbled to have made it to the land of Zion, grateful for her LDS faith, proud to obtain her citizenship, become an American, and very vocal about her patriotism. She worked very hard on her new language and was very proud to have completely lost her Danish accent, early in her new American life.
At 18 years of age, Amy married the good-looking and charming Severin Jensen on May 5, 1949 in the Manti Temple, Manti, Utah. They had three boys, she always referred to as 'My Three Sons'. Somehow, she managed to keep all that testosterone in check and was a wizard in financial matters.
Amy spent many years working part time for Valley Bank & Trust. She was proud to be the secretary of the family business her father started, Scandia Maintenance, a janitorial service throughout the Salt Lake Valley, including residential homes, Colonel Sanders villa, Kennecott Copper Tower, First Security Bank Operations Center and several other well-known companies.
Amy enjoyed square dancing, and continued to be an active dancer right up until she passed. She also enjoyed her chair yoga classes two times per week. She looked forward to, and loved our family dinners, especially Christmas Eve. She loved it when the family would make a circle around the Christmas tree, hold hands and sing while dancing around the tree.
Amy is survived by her two sons, Michael (Stacy) and Graydon; Janice Jensen; five grandchildren, Kristal (Tim), Michael, Jordan, Aimée and Natasha (Martin); four great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Kirsten, Payton, Theodore.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Severin (Sev/Farfar); son, Gary; parents, Peter & Nelly; brothers, Hans Jorgen (John) & Bjarne (Dan)
Service will be held Friday August 10, 2018 from 12:00PM-1:00PM at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E South Temple. A viewing will be held on Thursday evening from 6:00PM-8:00PM at the Holladay 25th Ward, 4650 S Naniloa Dr. Holladay, UT, and again from 10:30AM-11:45AM at the mortuary before the service. Interment will be at Salt Lake City Cemetery 4th Ave 'N' St, Salt Lake City, UT following service.
