Audrey G. Jensen

Born 26 May 1925 in London U.K. to George and Mabel Grubb, Audrey attended Primary schools (elementary) and Secondary School (High School) until the outbreak of WW2 1939. She worked from an early age as a graphic artist on animated ads at Hammersmith Studios in London. She also found fame and success in the entertainment industry. As a talented singer, tap dancer and actor, Audrey thrived in the art of pantomime in theaters all over England. Adopting the stage name Betty Lloyd, Audrey was perhaps best known for her share of Vaudeville comedy act "Bob Lloyd and Betty." After "Bob's" retirement Audrey continued to perform solo as soubrette/ingenue for many of London's top producers. It was while working under the auspice of U.S.O. shows that she met her husband American G.I. Sgt. Glade K. Jensen who was managing the officer's club in Berchesgaden Germany. Audrey was hired to sing with the band. Glade and Audrey were married in October 1952 in London. They made their permanent home in Glade's home state of Utah where they raised their two children. Audrey became a US citizen in 1964. After which she entered the U of U and graduated with honors, Magna Cum Laude - Phi Beta Kappa. Audrey was a masterful seamstress making stylish outfits for herself and her extended family. Audrey enjoyed gardening and decorating her home. The couple earned their real estate licenses in the late 1980's. Glade passed in 1992 from cancer. Since 2005 Audrey was a much loved resident of SLC's Friendship Manor and from 2012 at The Sarah Daft Home until her peaceful death on August 30. Audrey is survived by her daughter Katherine Platts, Salt Lake City (Kathy's husband Mark passed away in 2013) Son, Chris Jensen, Ventura, California. Granddaughters Kristin Drechsel, mother of Ashtyn, 16 and Jennifer McDermott, (husband Matt) mother of great-grandchildren Cole, 6, and Marklyn, 3, SLC. Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, husband Glade, and sister Rosalind Barnes, UK died in 2007. There will be a celebration of life Friday, Sept 15 at 1:00 PM at The First Unitarian Church 569 So. 1300 East.
