Audrey Jean Wallace Whipple

1932~2022

Salt Lake City, UT-Audrey Jean Wallace Whipple was born July 22, 1932 in Salt Lake City, Utah, and died October 28, 2022. Parents were Thora Bryson and Clarence John Wallace. The second of three children, she spent her childhood in Salt Lake, Castle Gate, and Davis County, Utah. As a young woman, she met the love of her life, John Roberts Whipple. They married December 26, 1950 and celebrated 68 years together before Jack's death in 2018. They had two children, John Roberts Whipple, Jr., and Elizabeth.

Audrey was always active in her communities in Montana, Oregon, Idaho, and Utah holding positions in her church, the Red Cross, United Good Neighbors, March of Dimes, and Utah Shakespeare Festival. She and Jack enjoyed their travels to European countries, and throughout the USA.

Following Jack's retirement, he and Audrey operated apparel stores in Montana and Utah before opening the Bard's Inn Bed and Breakfast in Cedar City, which they operated for nearly two decades. They looked forward to their guests' return year after year as guests became friends.

Audrey and Jack retired, again, to Salt Lake to be near their daughter and grandchildren. They enjoyed their ward community and loved their neighbors.

Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved son John, her adored husband Jack, and her sister Glenna and brother Douglas. She is survived by daughter Elizabeth and son-in-law Hugh; grandsons Jack, Patrick, and Nelson; niece Trisha, nephews Michael and Kent; and friends far and wide.

Graveside service will be held on Tuesday November 8, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Salt Lake City Cemetery, 445 North between Main and 940 East. Viewing will be held Monday November 7th at 5:00 p.m. at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, Salt Lake City.
