Betty Shirley Obituary

Betty Lou Shirley

Jan. 25,1953 - Nov. 28, 2025

Salt Lake City, UT-Betty Shirley was born on Jan. 25,1953 to Maude Shirley and J.D. Shirley in Salt Lake City, UT. She passed away at the University of Utah Hospital from a congenital heart disorder. She was preceded in death by brothers Chuck Hertig and Bill Shirley. Her sisters are Barbara (Mel) Martinez and Julie Apgood (2 neices, Kellie and Michelle). Betty married longtime friend and partner Nikki Richardson in 2017. Betty loved her fur babies who were devoted buddies.

Betty worked for UTA for 38 years beginning as a bus operator and advancing to Operations Supervisor and Operations Manager for multiple divisions. Betty was an athlete when younger playing softball, golf and multiple sports. She loved her home and tending her yard and garden. Betty was a wonderful friend to many people over the years within her work and personal life. She was always willing to help friends with her time, companionship and advice. Those who knew her well loved her dry wit and sense of humor. Betty's wish was to say a thank you to the many great friends she has been happy to have and to thank them for their love and support over the years. A celebration of life will take place at Valley View Funeral Home in West Valley City in early summer of 2026. Please remember Betty with a smile.
