Betty Wright Obituary

Betty Jean Wright

April 1st, 1941 ~

January 19th, 2022

Heaven gained one hell of a set of wings. There isn't enough words to describe this remarkable, loving, and caring Wife, Mother, Friend, Aunt, Sister, Grandma, and Amma.

Born Betty Jean Phelps in Salt Lake to Farald Enon Phelps & Vera Lucy Simons was the third born of four. She was an April Fool's Baby; thinking they were having a boy, oh boy were they surprised when Betty came and fooled everyone. Her original birth certificate legally named her as "Baby Boy Phelps", until weeks later they finally decided on a girls name.

She married the love of her life, Albert "Jack" John Wright on November 29th, 1957 in Flagstaff, Arizona; for the ceremony Jack placed a cigar band on her finger for a ring as they said "I Do". They went on to have Jackie Jean, Albert "Bert" Earl & Vera "Jin" MaeJean. They were married for 48 years before Jack's passing in May 2005.

In her younger days, Betty was a competitive roller skater, and even worked as a car hop. She went on to work for the VA for over 15 years before her and Jack opened and ran their own business: J & B Wright Sales for over 20 years. They were very charitable with organizations such as the Salvation Army, Headstart and Sub for Santa programs.

Betty's greatest accomplishment though, was being a Grandma/Amma. She loved and adored her grand and great-grandchildren more than anything & took the upmost pride in guiding them through life and through their accomplishments. Betty and Jack loved to travel with their grandchildren, their favorite destination was Washington. She is survived by her son Bert, daughter Jin, 3 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and her dog Elvis who was her baby. Some of Betty's favorite things include: the color purple, lavender, lilacs, singing to The King, and shopping. Betty had requested in lieu of a formal gathering, that friends and family remember her fondly in your own way.

Rest easy beautiful, its finally time to join your love Jack.

I love you, a bushel and a peck

A bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck

A hug around the neck and a barrel and a heap

A barrel and a heap and I'm talkin' in my sleep about you,

about you

Cause I love you, a bushel and a peck

You bet your purdy neck, I do

Love You!

Hey there beautiful. I know I told you all the time how much I love you, but it still doesnt feel like it was ever enough. I love you so damn much. You are so special to me & I'm so lucky that you were mine. Me and your boys will never be the same without you here. For someone so short, you sure filled a big space in everyone's heart. I know you and fatso are together again at last, and that's the only thing that makes losing you hurt a little less.
