Chau Nguyen Obituary

Chau T. Nguyen 1974 ~ 2009 Chau T. Nguyen, 35, passed away October 17, 2009.Born April 19, 1974 in Vietnam, son of Nghiem Nguyen and Thanh Ho. Married Mikayla La April 13, 1993. He believed in helping others with a full heart, always being kind and to give with honor -- always giving, giving, giving. Survived by wife, Mikayla; children: Yolancee, Melannee, Kelanna and Teelanna Nguyen; mother, Thanh Ho; brothers and sisters: Dung Ho and Tin Nguyen, Vietnam; Hai, Ha K., Ngoc K. and Phoebe Nguyen, Salt Lake City, Utah. Family and friends may visit Oct. 21-23, 2009, Wednesday, 1-4 p.m., Thursday, 1- 8 p.m., and Friday, 9-11 a.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road. In lieu of flowers donations may be made for the children of Mikayla La at any Wells Fargo Bank.

I'm deeply sorry for your loss. My heart is broken for Mikayla and your young children. I worked with Chau at DWS for a long time and he was so much fun. He always had the craziest stories and could always make you laugh. The picture shown on his obituary is absoultely perfect - it's so Chau. Again, I'm so sorry for your loss. You are in my thoughts.

I first met Chau when we came to DWS from DOH. He was so boisterous in his greeting I always wondered why and who is this guy ?!?! I soon found with Chau that no matter what the occasion, he was full of life, surprise, and humor. That is who he was. I will surely miss this along with all of our customers/clients who he worked tirelessly to help and to try and get it right, the first time. His "command" of the English language also was a source of humor for many of us. One can never say he didn't try! He loved good humor, even at the expense of himself. Chau, you will surely be missed by all those you came into contact with even for such a short time. You have taught us all that life is so short, so laugh a little! God bless you and your family!

I wanted to offer my condolences to the children, wife and family of Chau. I like many worked with Chau - we was an amazing person with such a bright outlook on everything. He was always kind and patient with people he came into contact with and always had an amazing sense of self. I am honored to have worked with and for him - his memory will be a lasting one. Nguyen Family, My heart goes out to your family during this time of loss. Chau was a great man who was always full of energy. He made me laugh every time I saw him at work. Chau would meet me at my desk every week and sing to me Michael Jackon's P.Y.T!!! I will hold that memory close to my heart. Chau live it up in heaven for me. My wife worked with Chau at DWS. She always spoke very highly of him and what a great person he was.
I only met him once but after speaking to him for a few minutes I felt as if I had known him for years. It was clear to see he was a good man and a class act. His children were with him the day we met and you could also see the love he had for them as well.
Although I did not know Chau beyond our one meeting I am wishing his family, wife, children and friends Godspeed during this difficult time.

I worked with Chau at the Department of Workforce Services and have known him since 2001. He was a hilariously funny guy with a big heart!!! We always joked together about his shorts which looked like non-policy capris. We always joked with him about his bright green fluorescent shorts that he wore to play basketball with the DWS boys and his white silky breathable basketball shirts. Memories of deep laughter come to me whenever I think about our co-worker, Andy, doing police ride-a-longs with WVC PD and them pulling Chau over almost daily for noise ordinance violations for his car speakers!! :) When they would pull him over Chau would wave and say Hi to Andy. And, Andy would say he was going to have to pretend he didn't know him. HAHA.
Chau had a great laugh and an even better smile. I am saddened by this loss.
My prayers, thoughts and love go out to his wife, his children, and his family and friends. Chau's memory will always live on with the DWS family and as he was one of a kind, there will never be another Chau T. Nguyen.

Words cannot begin to express how sorry I am for your Families loss. When I heard I was just devastated. I worked at The State of Utah with Chau, he was always such a happy, funny jokster. No Matter your mood he was going to make sure he put you in a great mood with his smile and humor.
