Darren Lee Obituary
1972 ~ 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Darren Bruce Lee, 53. Darren passed away on November 20, 2025 at his home, surrounded by family. With remarkable courage and strength, he bravely faced a lifetime with cystic fibrosis and later the challenges of pancreatic cancer.
Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on September 16, 1972, to Herman and Iris Lee, Darren was the youngest of two children. He attended Granite High School and graduated in 1991. Darren took great pride in his work, building a dedicated career in telecommunications and information technology across all of his roles-including his time with the Utah Jazz in the 1990s, the Salt Lake Winter Olympics from 1999 to 2002, and most recently at the Salt Palace Convention Center. His talent, reliability, and strong work ethic earned him deep respect from colleagues and friends alike.
On June 29, 2002, Darren married Rebecca "Becky" Diane Laishley. Together, they shared many joyful years-traveling to Hawaii, San Francisco, and creating countless memories filled with laughter and adventure. Their greatest joy came on November 7, 2008, when they welcomed their son, Brandon. Darren adored Brandon with every part of his heart. He would do anything for him and with him just to see him smile. He was very proud of Brandon and the young man that he was becoming.
Darren was funny, sarcastic, upbeat, resilient, and practical-always on the lookout for a good discount or deal. He was an avid sports fan, and one of his happiest recent moments was watching his favorite baseball team, the Los Angeles Dodgers, win the 2025 World Series.
Darren is survived by his wife, Becky; his son, Brandon; his parents, Herman and Iris Lee; his sister, Maggie (Jim) Kearns and numerous nieces and nephews.
Darren, although you are no longer here with us, we will forever remember the love, laughter, and light you brought into our lives. We love you so much.
A celebration of Darren's life will be on Thursday, December 18, 2025 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Millcreek, Utah. Please share your memories and photos with his family at www.starksfuneral.com
