David Morris Obituary

1952 ~ 2016
Our beloved father, Papa, brother, uncle and cousin passed unexpectedly and too soon on February 10, 2016 in West Valley City, Utah, from heart related issues. He was born on January 2, 1952 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Lawrence Morris and Marjorie Newman. Brent had recently retired from Rio Tinto. Though very ill at the time, he never complained and was too proud to let anyone know how sick he was.
He graduated from Kearns High School in Kearns, Utah in 1970. He graduated from SLCC with a degree in Heating/Cooling and was on the Presidents List. He was very proud of this accomplishment.
Brent married Janet Thompson and later divorced. He married Pamela Harrison Reed in June of 1983. He instantly became a dad to her children, Michelle and Casey Reed and raised them as his own. They later welcomed into their family two more sons, David Lawrence and Christopher Vaun Morris. He adored and cherished his family. Though later divorced, Brent and Pam remained very close.
His hobbies included swimming (on the Kearns High Swim Team), bowling, golfing, skiing, trap shooting, camping and fishing. He also loved to pheasant hunt and play the guitar.
Brent was the happiest when he was spending time with his children and grandchildren and was very proud of each of them. They meant the world to him. He enjoyed playing golf with his brother, Dale; nephew in law, Clint Singleton and nephew Pat Morris
Brent is survived by his children, Michelle (Bendy) Olsen, Casey Reed (partner, JD Dela Cruz), David (Tess) Morris and Chris (Stephanie) Morris; brother, Dale (Rolene); sister, Julie (Frank) Edginton; grandchildren, Skylar, Robbie and Annie Olsen, RJ and Kayla Morris, Oliver and Grayson Morris; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly. Preceded in death by his cousin, George "Terry" Morris; parents, Stepmother, Lola Morris; grandparents, George and Dean Morris and Adolph and Olive Newman.
A visitation will be held on Monday, February 15, 2016 from 6-8 pm at the Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah with a private family viewing and casket closing will precede the visitation per Brent's wishes. Services and burial will take place on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at 11:00 am at Valley View Funeral Home. An online video and condolences may be sent to the family at www.valleyviewfuneral.com.

Dear Morris Family,

I met Brent many years ago when we were neighbors living in the same apartment complex. I vividly remember him to be one of the kindest, most wonderful people you could ever hope to call a friend. I was lucky enough to be one of those people. He would do anything for you if you needed help and was an all around great guy. I loved his sense of humor and he always had a smile on his face. I'm so sorry for your loss, I pray the Lord will grant each of you the peace and strength you need to help you as you grieve the loss of such a special man. God bless you all.

With Deepest Sympathy,

Connie Harton
