Dean Salmon Obituary
Our strong, tough, loving and tender husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather returned to his Heavenly Father on Thursday, December 29th 2011. Dean Everett Salmon was born on February 16th, 1932 in Mesa, Arizona to John Homer Salmon and Margaret Phoebe White Salmon. While at East High school, he met Sharon Rowsell and they were married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on October 30th, 1952. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in many Ward and Stake callings, bishoprics, high councils, and presidencies. Dean and Sharon served a Family History mission to the Mississippi, Jackson mission and the Tennessee, Nashville mission. In addition, they served as temple workers in the Bountiful, Utah Temple. He continues to help and support his grandsons as they serve missions to Rome, Argentina, and Nicaragua. Professionally, Dean was an Engineer for Mountain Bell, and after retirement, he worked at Salmon Electrical Contractors. Dean loved to golf, hunt, golf, fish, golf and be with his family.
He is survived by his wife Sharon Rowsell, his children, Sherri Page (Carl), Cindy Anderson (Jeff), Chad Salmon (Shelly), Ross Salmon, Sean Salmon (Kerei), Clint Salmon and 21 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren (with two more on the way), his brother Orville Salmon and his sister Irene Johnson. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Glyndwr Evans, Alvin F. Salmon, Melvin J. Salmon, Eugene M. Salmon, Jerry E. Salmon and William H. Salmon, his sisters Mary Evans Stucki Kohler, Alma Salmon McGarvey, Cleo Salmon Yonkers, and great grandson Cardon James Haskell.
Funeral services will be held January 3rd 2012 at 11:00 A. M. at the West Bountiful 2nd Ward, 840 N. 800 W., West Bountiful, UT. Family and friends may call Monday evening January 2nd, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 N. Main and Tuesday morning 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at the church prior to services. Interment at Lakeview Cemetery. Online guest book at www.russonmortuary.com.

I had the pleasure of working at the Mountain Bell with Dean and with Ross. Dean a favorite engineer and I enjoyed working with him very much. I am very sad to hear of his passing. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you. Becky (Martin) Muir

I am sorry to learn of Dean's passing. He was a good guy. I worked with him in the OSP Engineering group in Salt Lake. As en example of his concern and dedication, I've always remembered his comments after we re-organized and assigned the Engineers' responsibility for the exchanges where they lived, i.e. Bountiful for Dean. He said "I can't even enjoy the drive to church anymore without looking at and worrying about every telephone facility along the way..."
On my desk, I still have one of his carved ducks that he gave me.

We were so sorry to hear of Uncle Dean's passing. Our sincere sympathy and condolences to the entire family. We know that this is such a hard time for everyone and also know that you will all have wonderful memories to share for many years. Uncle Dean was quite a guy!

I knew Dean at Wasatch Elementary, Bryant Jr., East High and in the Engineering Department at Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Company. Early on I was afraid of him, he was tough. What ever negatives I had about him were dispelled when we worked together at the Telephone Company. I have held him in the highest regard since, and although it has been a long time, I share your loss. In my opinion he was as good as one gets. My deepest sympathy to his family.
