Dennis O'Reilly Obituary

Dennis James O'Reilly

1956 ~ 2025

Dennis James O'Reilly, a man whose love knew no bounds, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, September 21, 2025, embraced by his loving wife. Born on May 6, 1956, in Brooklyn, New York, Dennis was the 5th of fourteen wonderful children to Douglas and Sophie O'Reilly. His journey was a testament to the power of love, commitment, and a passionate, creative soul.

Dennis's greatest joy was his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Kimberly O'Reilly, with whom he shared 27 years of adventure and a love story that bridged the East and West Coasts. They met serendipitously at a software conference in Bellevue, Washington, and married on April 23, 1999, in Salt Lake City, Utah, forever uniting their families. Through all of life's ups and downs, their deep and unwavering love for one another was their constant.

He was a proud father to Missy (Steve), Erik (Kathryn), Ashley (Raymond), and Tessie (Paige), and a doting grandfather to sixteen precious grandchildren: Navaya, Ayla, Bryce, Andrew, Camron, Steven, Shia, James, Gustavo, Hope, Mateo, Tajan, Zayden, Jehtix, Rhys Rose, and his newest grandson due in November. He cherished every moment with them, and his love for them ran deep. He was especially grateful for the constant presence and energy of James and Gussy, whose loving connection kept him on his toes in his later years.

A true artist and craftsman, Dennis had a passion for woodworking, creating beautiful boxes, ornaments, and pieces that will forever be treasured by those who received them. He was a man with many interests, from designing an intricate train station in his basement connecting Bryce Canyon to Central Park, to meticulously crafting ponds and beautiful yards with his own hands. He took immense pride in making a beautiful home and sharing it with family and friends.

Dennis was proud to have served his country in the Air Force. He later channeled his passion for technology into his own computer repair company before dedicating 26 years as a DBA consultant with Tek South on a project at Hill Air Force Base.

He is also survived by eleven of his cherished siblings, numerous nieces and nephews, and his best friend and furry companion, Zeus. He was preceded in death by his father, Douglas; his mother, Sophie; and his two brothers, James and Patrick.

The train has left the station. A celebration of Dennis's life will be held at a future date for family and friends from the East and West Coasts to reunite and honor the kind, generous, and caring man he was to all who knew him.
