Derek Wesley Kener our loving son, grandson, brother and nephew passed away unexpectedly November 15, 2014 in Palm Springs, CA. He was born January 5, 1991 in Salt Lake City, UT. He was a wonderful artist and his art can be found at Granite Peaks High School. He had a great love of nature and liked to garden with his grandma. He also loved camping year round.
He is survived by his parents Marinda & Dallas Wilkerson of Salt Lake City, UT and Chad & Robyn Kener of Murietta, CA; his siblings Jessica (Jeremy) Speaks, Alex Wilkerson, Alyssa Wilkerson; grandparents, aunts, uncles and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandmother.
A viewing will be held Tuesday evening, November 25th from 6-8 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, UT. Services will be held Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at 11:00 am with a viewing at 10:00 am at the Valley View Stake Center 2245 East 3900 South, Salt Lake City, Ut. Interment to follow at Elysian Burial Gardens. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.Starksfuneral.com.

To The Family of Derek. May God comfort you at this time and bring you peace knowing that Derek is in a better place. I to lost a son in the same way and the pain is unreal. My heart goes out to you and the family at this time. You do not know me but I work with Jerry and was so heart broken when he told us of your lost. May God bless you.

Thinking of your family at this difficult time. May the peace of the Savior be with you all. I haven't seen Derek in a long while, but remember him as such a fun little boy with an infectious smile. I know how much he meant to his uncle Jerry and I am sure he is in the loving arms of his grandma Doris. My sincere sympathy is with you all.
