Douglas Gardner Obituary

Douglas Clair Gardner

January 10, 1958 ~ November 20, 2025

Salt Lake City, UT-Douglas Clair Gardner passed away peacefully and returned to his loved ones on November 20, 2025. Doug was born on January 10, 1958, in Ogden, Utah, to Bernard Clair Gardner and Shirley Penfield Gardner. Doug grew up in Hunter, Utah, but spent many childhood summers in Vernal, Utah, where he first discovered his love for the outdoors. Doug was a very active boy, and from an early age was involved in The Boy Scouts of America and Little League baseball, where played many positions, including pitcher. Later, in his teen years, Doug was on the wrestling team for his junior high and continued playing baseball. After graduating from Kearns High School, Doug married and started his family. Doug was a devoted father and hard worker, who owned his own business for many years. Later, he worked for Jordan School District and retired from Canyon School District.

Dad was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing at Strawberry Reservoir, hunting in The Book Cliffs of Eastern Utah, four-wheeling in The Sand Dunes, and snowboarding in The Wasatch Mountains. Doug acquired many hobbies and interests throughout the years, which consisted of coin collecting, baseball memorabilia, and collecting pocketknives. He had a great appreciation for Native American music and culture and The Old West; he had a small collection of arrowheads, guns, and sheriff and marshal badges.

After retirement, Doug always enjoyed a hot cup of coffee, feeding his backyard birds and wildlife, going for drives, going out to dinner, and seeing a good movie. He especially loved his family dinners and being with his three beautiful granddaughters.

Doug was a great man who was loved by many; he will be deeply missed.

Doug was preceded in death by his father Bernard Gardner; his mother and stepfather Shirley and Jack Heeb; and brothers-in-law Brian Gittins and Terry Mankin. Doug is survived by his ex-wife Alison; his daughter Tiffany (Phil) Pecoraro and three beloved granddaughters Sophie, Berkly, and Evie; his daughter Amy (Chris) Bell; his son Tyson; his sisters Kim Mankin, Jana (Michael) DeHerrera, and Diana (Albert) Ploeger; and his brother Randy (Shelly) Gardner.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff, CNAs, RNs, and doctors at The Auberge at Aspen Park who loved and cared for Doug in his final years.

There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date to honor Doug. For more information on the life of Doug Gardner, please visit the "Obituaries" section on The Neptune Society's website.
