Floyd Allen Obituary

Floyd Kent Allen

March 3, 1943 – October 7, 2025

Command Sergeant Major (Retired) Floyd Kent Allen, known to his family and friends simply as Kent, passed away surrounded by his daughters on October 7, 2025, in Nussloch, Germany, at the age of 82.

Born on March 3, 1943, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Kent grew up in a wonderful neighborhood with his three brothers, making great childhood memories and lifelong friends. He graduated from East High. With his strong sense adventure, Kent enlisted in the United States Army as young man, beginning what would become a distinguished and decorated military career. His service brought him to Germany in 1969, where he met his beloved wife, Irmgard Allen (deceased June 2025). Together, they built a beautiful life.

With Irmgard's steadfast support, Kent rose to the rank of Command Sergeant Major, the highest enlisted rank in the U.S. Army. Throughout his decades of service, he was known for his fearless leadership, integrity, and deep care for his soldiers. His final duty station was Heidelberg Kaserne, and his deep affection for Heidelberg led to making it their home after retirement.

Kent will be remembered as man of honor, strength and devotion – to his country, his soldiers, and most of all his family. His legacy of courage and compassion will continue to inspire all who knew him.

He is loved and missed by his daughters and their husbands Amber and Rob, Anya and Gundolf, and Juta and Frank; his grandchildren Maddison and her husband Dominick, Jennifer, Zachary, Braedon, Claire, Ava, Neal, and Glenn; his great-grandchildren Gemma, Violet, and Theodore; his brothers Craig and Scott; and many more family members. He is preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Elaine Allen, and his brother Duane.

Details regarding burial and Celebration of Life will be shared with friends and family at a later date.

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made the difference."

Kent and his family lived on one end of Harrison, and our family lived at the other end many years ago. He was always smiling and fun. Hope each of you will know what a fine man he was, even as a teenager! Kendra Divine
