On a long drive down the Alcan Highway my young daughter and I listened to a handful of audio tapes over and over again. Our favorite was THE TEN COMMANDMENTS OF PRAYER by Brother Pace. We learned much about prayer and still talk about that special time long ago as we contemplated prayer and listened to Bro. Pace from Alaska to Utah. Later I located his phone number and called to thank him for the fond memories. We had never met in person but as we spoke it felt as if we'd been longtime friends.

Brother Pace was one of my favorite professors at BYU. I remember a revelatory moment following one of his classes as I walked home across campus to my dorm. "It is true. It is all true." Thus, the Spirit let me know that the testimony and teachings I had heard from Brother Pace that day were true. Brother Pace was instrumental in increasing my faith and testimony in Jesus Christ. As his students, we felt his love for our Savior and his love for us. Thank you, Brother Pace. You are remembered and appreciated over fifty years later. Until we meet again, may God be with you.

I'm not sure if I'm still able to leave a message, but I would like to try. Brother Pace was my religion teacher at BYU several times in the 1970s. I'd heard that if you went to his office and waited in line he may add you to his class especially if you were from Idaho which I was. I went. I waited. He added me and seemed delighted to do so. I felt like we were immediate friends . His testimony of Jesus Christ Shone bright through everything he did and how he taught. His example in teaching inspired my testimony to grow and helped me begin to really understand who Jesus Christ was and is. When I got engaged I sent him an invitation through the mail. I was no longer at BYU. And what should arrive in the mail after our honeymoon, was one of my most treasured gifts! A beautiful one page letter that he had composed and signed with his and Diane's names. He said he found it a delight in our busy world that we would take the time to share that with him and what followed was his best wishes and advice for a happy life. We loved it! And now 43 married years later, it is still treasured. I was just thinking of him last night for some reason and so I searched online and found this obituary. Blessings and peace to all who read this. Jesus Christ lives and loves us all !!!

I first knew George through his wife, as Carman was a member of our ward and a special friend to my sister. After my wife (a convert) and I married, we enjoyed his Education Week and Know Your Religion lectures. He was invariably warm and welcoming, and he had a sweetness that won over all who knew him.

Brother Pace was a member of the BYU Tenth Ward, back when I was a student in the 60's and 70's. He was our High Councilman. I used to love his talks about having a relationship with Christ. Bro. Pace, his example and his talks, had an incredible influence on the rest of my life.
The Carman family were members of my ward in Portland, Oregon. I didn't know them because my family wasn't active, but I do remember Diane Carman was Miss Oregon.

I worked in the copy center of the religion building (JSB) on BYU campus for the 5 years that I was a student at BYU; this was how I got to know Brother Pace. Brother Pace truly lived his religion. He was one of the kindest professors who came into the copy center, and even though I never had the privilege of being a student in one of his classes, he was always so warm and loving. He seemed truly interested in me as an individual, and the copy center was always cheerier after he had been to visit. I respect Brother Pace for his humility, compassion, and Christ-like example. He was a great, great man.

Brother Pace was my first religion professor at BYU. I was a new convert and he had a tremendous influence on me! Kindness and humility, and a love for the gospel and the Lord. I spent many years in his stake as well. He shall be missed.

He had a significant influence on my life. I am one of thousands. He was a wonderful human being, who exemplified what he taught--a genuinely Christlike man. With a great sense of humor! I knew him first as a student, later as a friend and neighbor. Thank you, George for saving the day when your presence made possible the backpacking trip to the Escalante Wilderness I'd planned for the Young Women.

I will miss George every day until I see him again. He made my life better, richer, and far more meaningful through his example and influence as a discipleof Jesus Christ. The long talks we had while strolling through Yosemite or the Himalayas, the Scottish highlands or the hills above his home helped make me the man I am today. Godspeed, my friend!
