George Wisniewski

1951-2022

Odessa, MO—George Wisniewski passed away on June 13th, 2022. George was born on June 13, 1951 to Chester Wisniewski and Krystyna Chmielweska about a week after they arrived to United States from Germany. George attended Holy Trinity Catholic School, and DelaSalle High School. He would later graduate from The University of Missouri–Kansas City (UMKC), the University of Utah, and The University of Missouri–Kansas City (UMKC) Conservatory of Music. He would later get a job working at the Social Security Administration, for which he worked 33 years at, later retiring as a Claims Authorizer (CA). He also was an instructor, and an Arabic and Polish Translator.

George began playing the pipe organ at Holy Trinity at age 12, and played even into his 60's. He was an organist at Holy Trinity, St. John the Baptist, Our Lady of Peace, Our Lady of Sorrows, Church of the Sante Fe, and Old St. Patrick's Oratory. He would also play at numerous weddings, funerals, and even special masses in Polish. George later moved from Kansas City to rural Odessa in 2010. There he enjoyed life and even battled Esophageal Cancer after being diagnosed in 2018. He had beaten cancer back to back three times, always Fighting the good fight.

George was preceded in death by his loving parents, and is survived by his wife of 40 years, Martha, sons; Michael (Christy) of Lee's Summit, MO, Captain Thomas Adam (Meredith) of Springfield, MO, and Doctor Denis of Kansas City, MO, sister; Alex Jones of Kansas City, MO, niece; Tammy Judy, Lenexa, KS, six grandsons; Philip, Patrick (Ashleigh), Brendan, Gabe, George Anthony, and Theo, and one great- grandson; Michael.

Per his request, the funeral and burial will be private. Contributions can be made in George's name to the Catholic Charities of Kansas City-St. Joseph located at 4001 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd #250, Kansas City, MO 64130. George was in my class at De La Salle. I remember him as a kind and gentle soul.....and pretty smart too.
