All my memories of grandpa Gerald were lovely. He had more patience than anyone I've ever met, nothing seemed to break his loving composure. I never heard him complaining about anyone. He often explained to me "Everyone is different, the world would be an awfully boring place if we were all the same." Being so young I didn't know how much I'd appreciate those words later in life. I definitely aim to be as accepting of people, you'll be missed Gerald Hansen.

I never really had a lot of memories of grandpa, but I remember I admired him a lot, and he was a great guy, I remember that if we wanted him to give us candy, we had to tell him that he was the best grandpa in the world, it really wasn't hard to say that because he was the best grandpa in the world, some people may not have thought so, but I think so.

Grandpa didn't talk much, but he was always humming a tune. You could tell Grandpa was always happy and that he loved you and all of our Heavenly Father's creations. He was a man who really enjoyed the great outdoors and could make treasures out of anything he found. His favorite flower was the yellow rose, he told us of when his mother was pregnant with him and it was her job to bind the yellow roses. After some time she had stated to have a strong disliking to the flower, but it somehow transferred to the little baby in her tummy as a distinct fondness for it.
Grandpa also mentioned the hard times as a child during the depression where food was scarce and he and his siblings went outside to eat the dandelions because there was nothing else to eat. Grandpa Gerald was a really special person.
When I first learned of President Teddy Roosevelt, I always imagined he was much like how Grandpa Gerald was. Which is very fitting as Roosevelt was the 26th president and Grandpa's birthday is the 26th! Happy birthday Grandpa. Miss you very much!

Gerald, an example of humility, always a peace maker, quick to laugh and never without a smile. Great attributes of a great man. I will miss him.
