Glen Cannon Obituary

Glen Badger Cannon was with his children and other loved ones when he passed away of leukemia June 21, 2002. He earned the respect and admiration of all who knew him. He was born March 8, 1927 in Holden, UT to Spencer Croxall and Nancy Bad-ger Cannon. He attended school in Hunter and Mag-na. He married Joyce Richards May 13, 1949 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they did many things, including serving in the New York Bronx Mission. They were an example to their children and grandchildren. His life of service began when he left high school early to serve his country for three years in the U.S. Navy near the end of World War II. He graduated from the University of Utah, where he participated in Army ROTC. He spent eighteen years in the Army, serving one tour of duty in Korea and two tours of duty in Vietnam. After he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel, Glen obtained his teaching certificate and taught fifth and sixth grades in Granite School District for nineteen years. Glen served in scouting, Young men's, stake high council, and as branch president, and bishop. Additionally, he served as a temple worker and supervisor at the Jordan River Temple and was involved for many years with the Family Home Evening program at the Utah State Prison. He was actively involved in the community. He served two terms as mayor of Draper. His commitment to making our world and our community better places to live was incomparable. Glen is survived by his five children, Peter (Beverly), Farmington, Oakley (Jeff) Eaton, Riverton, Jennifer (Ray Paul) Greenwood, Draper, Spencer (Michelle), American Fork, Tony (Carolyn), Draper; 29 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and one brother. Services will be Tues. June 25, 2002, 11 a.m., Draper 12th Ward chapel, 13112 S. 700 E. A viewing will be Mon. 6-8 p.m., Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State, Midvale, and Tues. 10-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park, 4335 W. 4100 S.
