Gregory Bjarnson, 59, passed away June 1, 2015 in Salt Lake City. Greg was born August 7, 1955 in Provo, Utah to John G. and Enid C. Bjarnson. Greg had a great love for the outdoors. Camping and fishing were two of his favorites. He also spent many years in the winter time on the ski slopes skiing-during and after school hours.
One summer when Greg was 12, his cousin Terri Williams who was his age, was visiting the family and they were all swimming. Greg looked around the pool and could not see Terri, so he dove to the bottom of the pool and found her lying face-down on the drain. He had just learned "life-saving" in scouting and used those techniques to bring her up. She was almost gone, but quickly getting to the doctor saved her life. The story was in the newspaper and he was later honored at a banquet by President Benson.
From his father Greg learned the trade and business of building. He eventually got his own contractor license and built many beautiful homes. He had the opportunity to live in several states to do construction work. One of his favorite places was Maui, Hawaii where he lived for four years building high rises on the beach and scuba diving in the ocean.
Greg had a big heart; he was always willing to share his building talents. He loved helping others, and the pay he would look for in return was the satisfaction of being able to help.
Greg is survived by his children, Brooks and Bridger Bjarnson, mother, Enid C. Bjarnson, his siblings, Matthew (Diane), Kenneth (Charlette), Leslee (Jim), and 14 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and his sister, Kathleen.
A visitation will be held Sunday, June 7, 2015 at Goff Mortuary, 8090 South State Street, Midvale from 6:30-8:00 pm. Graveside services will be at Spanish Fork Cemetery, Monday, June 8, 2015 at 11:00 am.
