Today we bid goodbye to the rock and center of our family, our father, Hal Ray Peacock who was from "The Greatest Generation" who passed peacefully on November 9, 2021. Hal was from original Utah Pioneer stock and the Robertson Scottish Clan, born on March 5, 1924, to David Ray Peacock and Daisy Elizabeth Rudd in Bell Gardens, Los Angeles California, which is now East L.A. It was during the Great Depression Era and daddy often told of how they moved so much not realizing as a kid that his father was just one jump in front of the sheriff due to owed rent money at that time. He spoke of camping on the beach with his three sisters that he adored, Violet, Aldean, and Gaile and of growing up playing in the ocean which was one of his great loves. As a teen the family moved to American Fork Utah where dad said he knew of every fruit tree within a 10-mile radius of the home and often took ducks and pheasants he had hunted exchanging them for groceries, haircuts, and basic needs for the family. He was plucked from high school before graduation being only 15 and made to join WWII where he entered the United States Air Force and became a "belly gunner" aboard the B-17 bombers. He was just 3 days shy of going to Cadets School with the Air Force Academy and becoming a pilot when the war suddenly ended, and he was sent home to Salt Lake City Utah. The very next day he hitched aboard a flatbed pick-up truck with each foot strategically placed on a piece of wood, pavement shinning up through his legs, and rode all the way to Texas to marry his sweetheart, the late Ruby Pauline Roddem where they had one daughter, Linda Faye Peacock. Hal worked for the Rio Grande Railroad for almost 40 years. Hal's work ethic was a religion. He would never ask a man to do something he himself wouldn't do. He was on the Railroad Softball League as a left-handed pitcher who helped to win the D&RGW Championship Trophy and he loved baseball. Hal later married Lois Woodle and had another daughter Julie Ray Peacock. He loved to fish and camp and being in the mountains. His humor was a one of a kind and he was hilarious to play cards with listening to his dialogue. Hal then later married Goldie Phoebe Jarvis and her children Goldie Laverne Rasmussen, Kenneth Jarvis Hadley, Joelyn Beverly Weston, and Gloria Jane Lauber. They were married over 40 years and together with their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, along with Michael Barrios, who was like a son to them, dad proclaimed it was the best life a man could ask for. Hal had many developed talents and called himself a "wood butcher" making intricate birdhouses, doll furniture, jewelry boxes, and various sculpted wood items. He loved his yard and garden. He loved his dogs, and later his cats. He once charmed a family of Blue Jays till they would take peanuts right from his lips. He belonged to the Mountain Man Rendezvous and his nick name became Broken Rod. He served as a Temple worker with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Salt Lake City, Utah Temple and was a member his whole life and had a testimony of the Savior. He was a man's man, kind and strong. He was handsome his whole life through with crystal blue eyes and thick wavey hair. Come this year of 2021 at the age of 97 and all the events we've experienced, daddy proclaimed he had literally lived to see it all! We will miss you dad, but your love and your example will live on in our hearts forever. Thank you for a life well lived! A sincere heartfelt Thank you to all the many nurses and aides that took great care of our father and was with him when he crossed.

Services will be held on Tuesday, November 16th, 2021 at 11am at Larkin Mortuary located at 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, UT 84111 with a visitation from 9:30 – 10:45 am.
