Houshang Firouzbakhsh Obituary

Houshang Firouzbakhsh

1929 ~ 2022

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Houshang Firouzbakhsh (John to his friends) a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He spent the last year of his life at Wentworth Assisted Living in East Millcreek where he passed away peacefully on 28 April in the company of family and the wonderful, caring staff. He was born on January 9, 1929 in Iran to Ali Naghi and Khorshid, and is survived by his four children, two grandchildren and three sisters.

He was a brigadier general in the Imperial Iranian Armed Forces, serving the country and the people of Iran in different capacities throughout his life until the 1979 revolution when he left the country to join his four children in Europe. He later moved to Salt Lake City in the 1980s to join his eldest daughter, Katayoun/Homa. He fell in love with Utah for its natural beauty and its warm and friendly people, and decided to settle in Salt Lake City, taking up US citizenship in the process.

Our heartfelt thanks go out to our friends, and the caregivers at Wentworth who attended the Memorial Service on 3 May.

We were blessed to greet and be greeted by John in the halls of the Wentworth as we visited my mother, who is a resident there. He radiated light and love. His smile was contagious. We miss him, but are happy that our paths crossed for even a short time. We send our sincere condolences to his loving and devoted family.
