Jack Beuk Obituary

Salt Lake City, UT-On April 5, 2015, Jack passed away at home due to complications of Double Pneumonia.
He was born on February 26, 1926, in Hilversum, Netherlands to Lourens Beuk and Johanna Berendina Dinkelman. The family barely survived World War II with Jack going into hiding at 18 years old to avoid being caught by the Germans for slave labor. After the war he was drafted into the Dutch Army, where he served three years. Later, he was converted to the L.D.S. Church and immigrated to the United States on March 27, 1950. He joined the Utah Air National Guard during the Korean Conflict and worked with the guard as a civil service technician for 34 years. He married the love of his life Oeke Rijnsburger on December 5, 1951, in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised three children. The most important day in his life was December 28, 1954, when in his own words he said: "I became a citizen of this great country." Jack enjoyed woodworking, fishing, camping, sailing; and at the young and tender age of 60 took up snow skiing with his cousin and best buddy John Kolman, but his love and priority was his family.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 63 years; his three children Brenda (Marc), Raymond and Linda Rose; five grandchildren, Brittany (Rocco), Tyson, Crystal (Nate), Caleb (Jennifer) and Dylan (Jaime); five great grandchildren Elise, Jayden, Ethan, Thomas and Davis; sisters Nellie (Maurice), Tina (Ralph) and Ansje (DeMoyne); and close friend Inge. He was preceded in death by sister Johanna and Louky.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Friday, April 10 at the Canyon Rim Stake Center, 3051 S. 2900 E. A viewing will be held from 6-8 pm Thursday, April 9, at the Mountain View Mortuary, 3115 E. 7800 S. and from 12:30 to 1:30 pm prior to the services at the church. In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Josephs Villa Charity Care Fund.

I'm so sorry to hear of Sgt. Beuks passing. I knew him in the Air Guard. He was great to work with at the motorpool. I was in Security Police and he was one of the few who worked well with us cop. He told me a couple of stories of the war that I still remember clearly. Again, he was a great man and I'm sorry about his passing. God bless.
