James Boyack Obituary

James BruceBoyack 1942 ~2003  HELPER - James Bruce Boyack, age 61, passed away August 16, 2003, at his home in Helper. He was born Jan 6, 1942 in Helper, UT to Franklin Pace and Elda Ames Boyack. Jim attended schools in Carbon County, then enlisted and served honorably in the U.S. Navy on the USS Duncan, USS Kem-per County, and the USS Dia-chenko. After returning home he began his railroad career as a Carmen with the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad and was a proud member of the Railroad Carmen of USTC459. In 1984 he retired from the railroad and then devoted his time to his favorite hobby, custom cars. Jim was a proud member of the National Pin Stripers of America Association, the Pinheads, and the Taildraggers. He was honored with three Master Craftsmen Awards for his work with custom cars from the CC Riders, San Rafael and the Swell Car Clubs. He was co founder of the Butch Cassidy Car Club and co-organizer of all 15 Helper Outlaw Car Shows in the Helper City Park on Father's Day weekend. Jim had hundreds of custom vehicles pass through his little garage in Helper and he loved them all. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, neighbors and other hot rod enthusiasts around the country. Survived by his daughters, Erin (Brett) Rowley, Leigh (Richard) Pierce, Summer (Jed) McBride, Patty (Phil) Pappas; son, James Bruce, wife, Kim, Ike Lee; grandchildren, Rachel, Phil, Jordan, Chris, Austin, Cortland, Kylie, Connor, Danny, Dakota, Faithlynne; sisters, Jackie Stone, Pricilla (John) Westenskow, Joan (Jon) Piercy; brothers, Earl (Francis) Stanley, Pace (Jean) Boyack, Jr., Pat (Mary) Boyack; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Monty, Lester Stanley. Funeral, Fri. Aug 22, 2003, 11 a.m. Helper LDS Stake Center. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home, 233 E. Main St, Price Thurs. 7-9 p.m. and at the church Fri. one hour prior to services. Interment, Mt. View Cemetery, Helper.
