James Dowdle Obituary
1939-2024
Midvale, UT-James LeVoir Dowdle was born May 25, 1939, in Logan, Utah to Naomi Cantwell and Amos LeVoir Dowdle. Jim passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 17, 2024 after a 4-year battle with prostate cancer. Jim spent his early years in Newton, Utah, and graduated from North Cache High School in 1957.
Jim loved life and kept busy with travel, bowling, golfing, skiing, and his favorite activity: riding motorcycles. He is survived by his children Shelly (Glenn) Pierson, Scott Dowdle, and Jamie (Mike) Torretta; grandchildren Natalie (Chris) Hackler, Heather Dowdle, Curtis Person, and Tiffany Dowdle; great-grandchildren Brayden, Atlas, Easton, and Evie; Siblings: Blanche Loila (Gary dec) McKissick, Curtis W. (Martha) Dowdle, and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his best friend, Stella Tanaka, and siblings Stephen Dowdle and Meredith Groneman.
A beloved Dad, Brother, Uncle, and Friend, he will be missed. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at The Huntsman Cancer Institute, The University of Utah Hospital, Abbington, and Aspen Ridge for their dedication and support for Jim's well-being.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

James was special. Always thinking. I remember when the tornado came through Salt Lake City close to the tall building in which we worked. James was conflicted as to whether it was worse to be on the ground floor crushed by all the bricks or on the top floor and fall the distance. James was special!
