Imagine Jim has been gone for six years!! A tragic shortening of life. I still think about times with him at IBM (and management development ski meetings at Snowbird)... and appreciate the influence he was on me. RIP ole buddy!!

Pretty sure he baptised my parents around 1958 in Southport, Queensland Australia

What a nice idea to remember Jim this way. We shared so many great memories at IBM... he was the best boss to work for. A positive, giving, fun friend. I miss him and was fortune to have e been his friend.

Carol,

We had no idea, usually bad news travels quickly. No wonder you were walking the pug and not Jim the other day. We just heard about Jim yesterday from Marilyn and Hassain. Now who's going to be the Mayor of Top of the World? Let us know if we can do anything. Pat & Russ

Jim was a good neighbor and generous friend to our family. We will miss his smile and his golf cart visits with Poo 2. You will be in our prayers. - The Lysager family, Star Valley Ranch

I was saddened to hear of the passing of James W Hillyard. Jim and I were teenage buddies in the early 1950's in Auburn Wy. Proud co-owner's of an inflatable rubber raft which we bought from his brother Ron for $20. We spent many carefree hours floating the Salt River from the "Miller" bridge down to the Silver Stream Lodge, fishing all the way. Jim was a good friend and an excellent athlete. We played on the same baseball team in the summers. Jim was a gentleman, kind and considerate. I always respected him. I lost contact with him after I got married but thought of him often. Sorry I didn't make the effort to find him. I do have fond memories of a true friend.

Jim was a perpetual bright spot. He hired me to come to Utah in 1974, and I enjoyed working at one of the happiest and most successful IBM offices in the country. Jim's friendly demeanor, his sense of adventure and his optimism were contagious. We had a lot of success and a lot of good times including a lot of trips in his plane for "management development" meetings. He taught me most of what I know about that on the chairlift at Snowbird. RIP old friend!!

Of all of the managers I've had in my career, none was better than Jim Hillyard. He was very smart yet humble and down-to-earth. I consider his friendship as one of the treasures of my life. His son, Paul, was an outstanding employee of mine and reflected the great character traits his Dad taught him. Thanks, Jim, for your compassion, counsel and friendship...Rich Green

Cal and I will remember his quick wit, happy smile and concern for others. He would always ask about the family and looked for the good in everyone. He was very intelligent, yet humble. He will be so missed. Our heartfelt condolences to Carol, Renee and the rest of the family. He truly lived the gospel and will see his family again and embrace you all with his amazing love.
