Janice Frost Obituary

Janice K. Frost

In Loving Memory

Kaysville, UT—Janice K. Frost (neé Wilcox) passed away on February 28, 2021 after a brief illness. She was a professor at the University of Utah, and worked with colleagues to establish the LEAP program for incoming undergraduate students. Janice had a B.S. in math and physics from University of California, Berkeley. She also completed an M.A. in English and Ph.D. in English and American Studies from the University of Utah. Colleagues and students have always mentioned her as an inspiring teacher and mentor. In 1959, Janice married Douglas L. Frost (3/4/38 to 12/30/19) who held a B.S. in Engineering from University of California, Berkeley. Janice was born on January 11, 1939 in Strong City, Kansas to Orley W. Wilcox and Dorothy E. Wilcox (neé Shannon). She is survived by her daughter Caren J. Frost (Hassan Bourija) and son Todd M. Frost (Lisa Casillas), along with three grandchildren: Sabrine M. Bourija, Ryann N. Frost, and Devon C. Frost. She is also survived by her brother Larry W. Wilcox (Jean Wilcox), as well as nieces and nephews and their families. In January 2021, Janice remarked that she had had a good life with enjoyment in traveling and hiking with Doug. She was an avid reader and a member of Daria, a discussion group that explored texts highlighting current, critical issues. Janice was an active marathon bridge player. Janice was a wonderful, supportive person, and we will miss her presence in our daily lives very much. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone, Montana or the Utah Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City, Utah.
