Jeffery Yoder Obituary

Jeffery Cordell Yoder 1949 ~ 2006 I was born on March 13, 1949 to Roy Andrew and Elizabeth Virginia Yoder in South Bend, Indiana. I died at home in Salt Lake City, Utah on June 12, 2006 after a five year battle with colon cancer. I graduated from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1971 and I was employed by Wells Fargo, First Security Corporation and American Stores for over 23 years in the field of human resources and employee benefits administration. I retired from Wells Fargo and Company on March 1, 2006. I would like to thank my fellow team members at Wells Fargo for the unbelievable accommodations they made to allow me the dignity to continue to work during my illness. I also leave my dear friends and spiritual advisors, Althea R. DeBrule of Stamford, Connecticut, Kevin L. Mower of West Des Moines, Iowa and Dr. John M. Hickner of Chicago, Illinois. I also owe a great deal of gratitude to my "team" of doctors and their respective staffs in Salt Lake City for being willing to press the medical conventional wisdom in new and innovative treatments in extending top quality care to me during my extended illness; Dr. E. Joe Eyring, II, Dr. Sean Mulvihill, Dr. Shreekanth Karwande, Dr. Nitin B. Chandramouli and especially Dr. Anna C. Beck, Ester Kannapel, remarkably caring medical professionals. I would like to also thank the great team at Utah Cancer Specialists and Karen O'Driscoll for their excellent care in helping me battle my disease. I am survived by my partner and companion for over 24 years, Brent Vern Marrott, mother, Elizabeth Honold Yoder of Ft. Myers, Florida and two sisters Elizabeth Yoder Baker of Marcellus, Michigan and Andrea Yoder Colwell (Allen) of Altoona, Wisconsin. Also surviving me are my three nephews, Michael Baker, Robert Colwell, and Benjamin Colwell. I leave behind my ever-faithful cats, Lucy, Gin and Buddy. I was preceded in death by my father Roy Andrew Yoder and brother-in-law Patrick Baker. A Christian Celebration of Life Service, officiated by Althea R. DeBrule, will be held at a later date in the chapel of the Salt Lake Mausoleum at the Garner Funeral Home, 1001 11th Avenue in Salt Lake City, Utah. Interment in the columbarium at the Salt Lake Mausoleum will occur following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers I request that donations be made in my name to the Huntsman Cancer Institute of the Utah Cancer Foundation of Salt Lake City.

You have touched me and many of our collegues at Wells Fargo in so many different ways. Your kindness, your sense of humor, your outstanding and comprehensive knowledge on a wide range of subjects, and your willingness and breath of concern for everyone will be greatly missed. I believe it is true that the good die young and it certainly is true in your case. You have been a wonderful and caring friend and I will miss you greatly.

I have such admiration for how valiantly Jeff fought this disease and how much dignity he showed during all the difficulties he had. I'm so glad that he and Brent had time to take cruises and vacations and made time to spend with friends and family to have some real quality time during his final months. I also have tremendous admiration for Brent for his loving and tender care of Jeff. No one could have done more than he did and we will all miss Jeff so much. He was such a neat guy.

Jeff was a wonderful and thoughtful friend. His sense of humor and wry wit will be sorely missed, as will his smile and warm hugs. You fought the good fight and I will miss you deeply.

Jeff in many ways was like a brother and always a good friend. He helped me in some of the most hard points in my life.

We shared a common intrest in building and figureing things out. And enjoyed bounceing idias back and forth. Most resently the deck at the back of the house last summer. Where we both came away from the project, feeling the job was good, and the time, well spent working together.

Jeff was and is, a good man. Having known him for more than 20 years. It has been my privilige to know him as a friend and family member. I feel I will see him again. When it's my time to make that next step of life. Till then he will be missed.
