Murray, UT-Jerry P. Bird 76, passed away on May 1, 2015 at home. Jerry was born on March 6, 1939 to Leroy Bird and Lillian Bristol Bird in Bluebell, Utah. Jerry served his country honorably for 4 years in the United States Navy. Jerry married Sandra Jeen Bird on May 30, 1968. She was the love of his life and proceeded him in death.
If anyone knew Jerry they would know he was the life of the party with his endless jokes and his animated story telling. Jerry loved entertaining guests. He always looked forward to seeing his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also had a special love for dogs. Jerry worked his entire career as a meat cutter for Safeway Stores and Smiths Food and always cooked to perfection the best cuts of meat for a great barbeque. Jerry loved the art of wine making and he also enjoyed playing golf.
Jerry is survived by brothers: Bill, Wayne, Arvil, and Dennis. Sister: Patsy. Children: April (John) Cassity, Douglas P. Bird, Shelley (Russ) Bawden, John J. Bird. Grandchildren: Star, Cody, Levi, Chase, Brooke. Great Grandchildren: Cash, Cole, Rylan. He is preceeded in death by son: Bill Dunster. Parents: Leroy and Lillian Bird. Brothers: Vern, Doyle, Larmie. Sister: Rola
Funeral Services for Jerry will be held on Wednesday May 6, 2015 at 2:00pm at Mountain View Mortuary, 3115 E. 7800 S., SLC, UT. Viewing held prior to the services from 12:00-1:45pm. Internment: Mountain View Memorial. In Lieu of flowers in Jerry's memory please donate to Best Friends Animal Society. So sorry for your loss. We cant make it in from Oklahoma. We will be there in spirit and prayer. My wife never got to meet Jerry so i was telling her what a nice man he was. I have great memories of learning to play pool in your basement with him and my dad. I am glad I brought my two youngest by to visit several years ago to visit. They wont remember but I will have another great memory of Jerry Bird.
