Jerry Taylor Obituary

Jerry Allen Taylor7/15/39 ~ 2/20/04  Jerry Allen Taylor, 64, of Pleasant Grove passed away Friday, February 20, 2004 at his home.   He was born July 15, 1939 in Payson, Utah to Joseph Onzel and Annie Laurie Crossley Taylor. He married Doris Ruth Conley and was later divorced. He married Elon Painter on October 3, 1969 in Ely, Nevada.Jerry grew up around farming and taught himself gardening. He wrote a book about gardening which was never published. He completed basic combat training in the U. S. Army and received letters of accomplishment for his high marks.   As a young man, Jerry became an accomplished welder while working at Mt. States Steel. He joined the Pipefitters and Welders Local 57 in February 1977 and continued his education through the union and received his journeymanship.   He retired Dec. 31, 2003 from the Union after 25 years of service. Jerry is survived by his wife of 34 years, Elon of Pleasant Grove; son, Vldn (Jeweli) Taylor, Colton, OR; son, Joseph Allen Taylor, Pleasant Grove; four brothers and four sisters: Anna Ranee Baker, Salina; Ed Taylor, Grand Junction, CO; Bryant C. Taylor, Kansas City, KS; Julie Kilgore, Longview, WA; Evelyn Harrelson, St. George; Vaughn Taylor, Salem, OR;  James Taylor, Orem; and Sondra Liston, Orem.   Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Arlen Taylor  and Sharrie Somirs. Family and friends are invited to attend graveside services to be held Wednesday, February 25, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery, 600 N. 100 W., Pleasant Grove. Funeral directors - Olpin Family Mortuary, Pleasant Grove.
