JOANNE ELDER Obituary

Joanne Elder Loving Grandmother Joanne Elder was born to Deloy Elder and Mildred Jean Osborne Elder on March 16, 1956 in Los Angeles, CA. On October 17, 2009 at the age of 53, Joanne passed away peacefully in her Sandy home. Joanne loved everyone she met especially her parents, brothers and sisters, children and grandchildren. She made everyone smile and loved to selflessly serve and help others with their problems. At the age of 38, Joanne was diagnosed with Leukemia. For 15 years she fought this disease without ever complaining or asking for sympathy, even while fighting for her life, she always cared for and loved her grandchildren with all of her strength. Joanne fought everyday, always concerned about the well being of her family and friends, always willing to selflessly serve her Heavenly Father. Joanne will always be in our hearts. She is survived by her parents; Deloy and Mildred, siblings; Craig Elder (Loraine), Bob Elder (Gena), Julie Elder Heiden (Reid), Kevin Elder (Jeanie), children; Joni Young, Stefanie Young Burton (Craig), Eric Young (Haylee), grandchildren; Thomas Rexx Madsen, Hannah Madsen, Treven Burton, Bailey Burton, James Young, Tracie Burton. Preceded in death by her brother Mark Elder. Funeral services will be held Saturday October 24th at 11:00 a.m. at Mountain View 10th Ward, 2700 West 8435 South. A viewing will be held Friday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. So. Jordan Pkwy (10600 So.) and Saturday from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Interment Bountiful City Cemetery. We would like to thank Joanne's family and the doctors at the BMT clinic in the LDS hospital for their love and support through this long fight. I remember when you guys came out to California, your mom didn't even act like she was sick she tried so hard to be strong and have fun with all of her kids and grandkids. She looked really Happy. We love you guys so much.

Uncle Dee, Aunt Mildred and cousins

I am so lucky that I was born into the Elder clan. I have fond memories of Joanne and our many extended-family trips heading to Yellowstone.

When our loved ones leave this life, they might leave many of their tasks unfinished, their plans unfulfilled or their dreams unrealized. But their memory lives on within each of us as we recall the joy of their companionship.
