John Morrey Obituary
North Logan, Utah-Our loving dad, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, John Rolph Morrey, 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, August 14, 2014 in his home in North Logan, Utah.
He was born on May 30, 1930 in Joseph, Utah, a son of John Eldon and Vera Johanna Mortensen Morrey. He graduated from South Sevier High School in 1947 and from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry. He then received his Doctorate Degree in Physical Chemistry from the University of Utah and was a graduate student of Henry Eyring.
Dad served an LDS mission to France from 1949-1951. Returning from his mission, he married Barbara Mortensen from Monroe, Utah. They were married and sealed in the Manti LDS Temple on March 14, 1952. She preceded him in death on July 29, 2011.
As a research scientist, he was credited with numerous professional achievements. He had an intense passion for science, but his most important passion in life was his family.
Dad was a fully committed member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He dedicated his life to serving others which included serving as Bishop, Stake President, Church Humanitarian Coordinator, and Mission President in Romania.
Dad was survived by his 3 siblings Ann, Russell, and Richard; 5 children John Douglas (Lynne), Stephen (Karen), Dianna (Niel) Campbell, Eugene, and Stacie (David) Cheney, 25 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Paradise LDS Church, 9060 South 200 West, Paradise, UT.
A viewing will be held on Thursday at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Crestview LDS Church, 1720 Thayer Drive, Richland, WA.
A viewing will be held on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Gardens, Richland, WA.

I had the singular experience of serving as a counselor to John in the Richard Stake presidency. He was a man of fearless conviction with enormous love of people. He and Barbara made a dynamic duo, and together they accomplished many good works.. They must be having a glorious reunion. I am very different because of our association. Thanks, John, for your love, service and friendship!
