Joyce Holladay Anderson, 84, our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2015 in Salt Lake City, UT.
She was born in Bountiful, UT on April 23, 1930 to Willard W and Lue Belle Burningham Holladay. On September 1, 1949, she married her devoted husband, Boyd Marten Anderson, in the Salt Lake Temple.
The middle child and only daughter, Joyce graduated from South High School and went on to graduate from Stevens-Henager's Business School. She worked at Hayes Studebaker as well as the State Employment Security Office while Boyd finished his pharmacy degree at the University of Utah. A year after Boyd graduated from the U, Boyd and Joyce opened their own pharmacy in South Salt Lake. A&G Pharmacy was a team effort for Boyd and Joyce, with both of them working in the store in the early years. Ten years later, they moved their family and pharmacy to Taylorsville and became the first pharmacy in the Taylorsville community. Each of their children worked in the store and Joyce did the bookkeeping from home until the store was sold in 1989.
Joyce was active in church, community and cultural organizations. She was an active member of the LDS church and held numerous positions. She served for five years on the Utah Pharmaceutical Association Women's Auxiliary Board as well as one year as president. She was active in the PTA, Salt Lake Council of Women, and the Suburban Arts Club.
Spending time with family was her greatest love. She cherished the time with her husband, children and grandchildren. Boyd and Joyce have three sons, David (Cathy), Steven, and Kevin (Liz) and ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to Clint and Melissa Smith, John Beal, Dr. Sharon Strong and the team members of Silverado Hospice as well as countless family and friends that have offered so much care to Joyce over the past several months.
A viewing will be held Friday, February 20 from 6-8 p.m. at the Taylorsville 8th Ward LDS Chapel, 1495 West Tamarack Road, on Saturday, February 21, a viewing will be held from 9:45-10:45 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. at the same chapel. Interment will follow at the Ephraim City Cemetery.
