Reston, VA-Katherine (Kathy) Lewis Bedinger of Reston, Virginia, died at Virginia Hospital Center on December 9th, 2024, at 81. She passed away after several years of challenging medical conditions. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Bedinger Duckworth, and son Michael Sean Bedinger. She is also survived by her grandchildren Mara Duckworth, John (Jack) Bedinger, William (Liam) Duckworth, Katherine Duckworth, Reese Bedinger, and Ryan Bedinger; Son-in-law William (Will) Duckworth and daughter-in-law Julie Bedinger. Siblings-in-law: Michael Bedinger, Sam Bedinger, and Nancy Wiblin. Katherine is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, John Patrick Bedinger, her parents, Morris W. and Virginia W. Lewis, her brother Kenneth M. Lewis, and granddaughter Emily M. Duckworth.

Kathy was born on June 2, 1943, in Kamus, Utah. She graduated from Tooele High School in 1961 and the University of Utah with a BA in Political Science in 1965. She was living in Washington, DC, and completing her Master of Arts degree in Government, Public Administration at George Washington University when she met her husband, John. After their marriage, they lived in Washington, DC, then moved to Illinois, where their two children were born. In 1972, they moved to Reston, Virginia, where they have been long-time members of the Reston Community. Kathy worked for Housing and Urban Development and was a Stockbroker with Ferris, Baker, and Watts for many years before owning her own financial planning business. She enjoyed many lifelong passions, including cooking, travel, reading, spending time with her grandchildren, and planning amazing experiences that we will remember forever. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on December 20, 2024, at St. Thomas a Becket Church in Reston, Va.
