Kendall Gibson Obituary

Kendall Jane Fillmore Gibson, age 73, passed away Friday, April 30, 2017. Kendall was born September 9, 1943 in Beaver, Utah where she grew up with her five sisters, graduated from Beaver High School, then moved on to study music and education at Southern Utah University. From there, she graduated from the University of Utah, where she appropriately met her husband on the steps of the music building. They were married October 8, 1968 in Salt Lake City.
Their deep love for music and travel soon landed them in the Azores (Portugal) where they taught and had their first son. Upon returning to the states, they taught in Visalia, CA where their only daughter was born. From there they moved into their home on Dearborn Street in Salt Lake City and welcomed four more sons. In 1999, she and Jim moved their family to Elk Ridge, Utah where they would spend the remainder of their lives. Kendall excelled musically, playing the piano or singing for anyone who asked. She was a dedicated and loving mother who was famous for her gardening skills, caramel recipe, and giving advice on nearly every subject.
Kendall is preceded in death by her husband, James Alexander Gibson, her parents Lee R and Chloe Fillmore, and her sisters, Ann (Frank) Axel and Gay (Raymond) Baker, as well as her brother-in-law, Ted (Kaylee) Anderson.
She is survived by her children, Tyrone (Adrian), Liz (Tom), Michael (Lisa), Jon (Monica), David (Tanya), and Joshua (Kaela), sisters Betsy (Dave) Vaught, Ruth (Dick) Thomas, Kaylee (Ted) Anderson, brother-in-law Raymond (Gay) Baker, sister-in-law Anne (Kent) Rasmussen, and 22 beautiful grandchildren.
Services will be held in the Stratford Ward located at 2600 S 1500 East in Salt Lake City.

We were saddened to hear that Kendall's funeral was today. We didn't know. We loved this woman who held a prominent place in our Stratford Ward memories. She was always in the middle of the fun and music. She just drew everyone in with her genuine interest in you, was so kind in sharing her talents and her time. She and Jim gave so much of themselves to all of us in the neighborhood and we remember them so fondly as that amazing family around the corner! We ask the Lord's blessing on each of you precious family.

I lovingly send my condolences to your family. I am an old friend and classmate of Jane's from the class of 1961, Beaver High School. Jane and I were not just classmates but great friends as we grew up in the Beaver 3rd Ward. We sang together in many church groups and school choirs. We biked down the "creek bed" on many summer days, taking our sandwiches in a paper bag. We spent the very first summer of the Shakespeare Festival together in Cedar City. She was in the productions and I was one of the dancers in the Green Show. After that our lives parted as we went on with our lives, but I have always considered Jane (as we knew her) as a dear sweet person and friend. My love to all of your family.
Respectfully, Linda Carter Robinson,
Beaver, Utah

I loved Kendall as my only sister in law. She and Jim were so talented in so many ways. Musically she excelled, a piano teacher,
singer and loving friend. I will miss her graciousness and fabulous cooking. Till we meet again dear heart. We will be singing in the heavenly choirs together.

Love to your darling and talented family.
