Kenneth Allred Obituary

Kenneth Thatcher Allred 1920 ~ 2004  Our much loved husband, father, grandfather and brother returned peacefully to his heavenly home on July 8, 2004.He was born September 13, 1920 in Blackfoot, Idaho to William Lothair Allred and Charlotte Parkinson. He married the love of his life, Roine Brown, on April 3, 1942 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He graduated from East High School and attended the University of Utah prior to being called to serve in World War II as a 1st Lieutenant in the Army Air Corp, flying B-17's and training other pilots. He retired as an executive from Western General Dairies. Many wonderful times were shared with his family at their summer cabin where he enjoyed horseback riding, playing cards and horseshoes, shooting pool and taking pleasure in all of God's creations. He also had a life-long enjoyment of golf and tennis. After retiring, dad was able to spend time writing. He completed, "Grandfather's Memories", "Amu, the Blue Dolphin", and many other wonderful works that were a reflection of his life experiences and which he hoped would serve as a life guide for his cherished family. His love for the Savior and his commitment to serving his church were central to his life. He is survived by his soul-mate, Roine; brother and golfing buddy, DeMar; sisters Louise Oswald and Marilyn Brown; children, Kenneth Thatcher Allred, Jr. (Kit), Diane Van Vleet (Russell), Vicki Alder (Bruce), Geoffrey DeMar Allred (Karrie) and Cynthia Smith (Matthew); 39 grand-children and 68 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son James Douglas and his sister Edwina Pendleton. A viewing will be held on Monday, July 12th from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South. Services will be held on Tuesday, July 13th, in the Bonneville 1st Ward Chapel, 1535 East Bonneview Drive (1050 South), where friends may pay their respects from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. Funeral services will begin at noon.
