Laura Bell Obituary

Laura Myrtle Bell Vise Springer 7/3/1921 ~ 9/15/2008 Bountiful - Laura Myrtle Bell Vise Springer, age 87, passed away Monday, September 15, 2008 from a stroke suffered in her home. Myrtle was born on July 3, 1921 in Knoxville, TN. Shortly after her birth, her family moved to Carlisle, KY. At the age of 18 years she moved to Salt Lake City with her parents and younger sister, Nettie Mae. She was then baptized a member of the LDS Church. She married Jack R. Springer in the Salt Lake Temple on June 26, 1944. Throughout her life Myrtle has been an example of hard work and independence. She helped wherever she was needed mostly without notice and without fanfare. She was always able to find space in her home for family members who needed a place to stay or live. She was very private and shunned attention. Few knew of her musical ability on the piano and the harmonica. She was self taught on both instruments. She worked most of her adult life at various occupations. She helped out at the family sewing machine business, sewing items of apparel for the public. Later she worked at a dry-cleaning establishment. Myrtle's greatest love was spending time with her grandchildren. Some of her most cherished memories revolved around having the grandchildren come for lengthy visits. She especially loved taking the grandchildren to Lagoon. She saved all of their season passes with photos and would get them out from time to time to reminisce with tear filled eyes. Myrtle is survived by four children, Holly Schaefer, Bonnie Hansen (Greg), Robin Naim (Ismail), Reg (Jill) Springer; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister Nettie Mae and brother Albert. Funeral services will be held Fri., September 19, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main Street, Bountiful, where a viewing will be held on Thurs. evening from 6-8 p.m. and Fri. 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment Salt Lake City Cemetery.
