Lisa Varley Obituary

1966 ~ 2017
Lisa Varley our loving daughter, mother, sister, and friend passed away peacefully on December 21, 2017.
Lisa was born on July 5, 1966 in Salt Lake City to Tom Varley and Mae Jones Farrand. She attended Alta High School and the University of Utah, graduating with a BA in History. She married Peter Grant in 2004 and later divorced. Lisa is survived by her father Tom, mother Mae, daughter Kara and brother Scott Varley.
Lisa was a daughter, sister, mother, friend who lit up a room with her laughter and her smile. Everyone loved being around Lisa. She found beauty in everything and delighted over the smallest wonders. Lisa loved holidays and Christmas was her favorite. She made sure every gift was perfectly wrapped and each gift chosen with care, more excited about gifts she was giving than what she might receive. She loved nature; hiking in the mountains of Utah, spending long summer days in Lake Powell, camping in all of Utah's beautiful places and anything to do with the beach. She made everything fun and brought such joy to those who loved her. Her friendship was a treasured gift, and there was nothing she wouldn't do for her friends and family. She loved gardening and was happiest with her hands in the dirt. She loved all animals but especially German Shepherd dogs, Bear Boy in particular, and couldn't resist anything with paws and fur. Those who knew her were charmed completely, and her memory will live forever in their broken hearts. A special thank you to Jason Tuckey for seeing Lisa through the end of her journey, he went above and beyond.
Lisa, you left this life way too early. It is not good that you are gone; it is good that you were here. There is certain finality about death. It cannot be changed. The only changes that can be made are the ones you do while living. The circle of life is a strange thing. We all influence each other and affect others in our own way. We can best honor those we love by remembering all of the good they brought into our lives. Make your choices and choose your path wisely, time and life are precious commoditys.
There will be a gathering where all friends are welcome to celebrate her memory on December 27th from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at the Cottonwood Club, 1780 E Lakewood Drive, Holladay Utah. In lieu of flowers, you may honor her and her love of animals by making a donation to the Utah Humane Society.
"Lisa, we miss you and always will."

Tom and Family,
My deepest condolences to those who walked this journey with Lisa. She was a friend to many and I do remember her smile that lit up a room. She helped with my dog Blossom - when I knew nothing about dogs. She had a joy for life and surely Lisa left songs unsung; her life preempted way too soon. I know her soul has found peace, knowing that she was deeply loved.
My love to the family -
