Madeleine Keller Obituary

1999 ~ 2017
West Jordan, UT-Madeleine Kennedy Keller was born on December 23, 1999 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ron Keller and Michelle (Tatton) Keller. Maddie fought for her life for 5 days and passed away due to complications from leukemia. Maddie was an amazing lacrosse player and loved playing on the Copper Hills High School team, as well as her other competition teams. Maddie enjoyed watching Notre Dame and the Oakland Raiders football teams. She had a very outgoing personality and was a true friend to all; especially her best friend and sister Payton and her life-long protector and brother, Colton. She loved living and experiencing new things, and she had many goals and aspirations. She was funny, kind, full of life and she will be missed by many. "We love you Maddie and will miss you forever". Maddie is survived by her parents, her brother and sister, and many relatives. She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Truman Keller; her aunt, Tara Sue (Tatton) Gray.

I'll never forget the first time we met Maddie - Copper Hills and Herriman were joining forces on the lacrosse field while the girls were all still young (playing junior's) and there was Maddie Keller with her beautiful long blonde hair pulled up into her signature side ponytail and a super wide and beautiful smile that touched on everybody around her. She cradled a stick like nobody's business and had an insane shot. Everybody wanted to know how many years Maddie had been playing lacrosse and turns out she was brand new to the sport. We learned that she had been a dancer before picking up a stick and that explained her grace on the field! Seeing what she could do as a beginner on the field made every single player out there practice harder and play harder. She made a genuine difference in every one of those girls that she got to play with - not to mention the coaches that were lucky enough to coach her (specifically Coach Wes). Seeing Maddie and Payton on the field together was a beautiful thing - they both brought something incredible to every game! Ron never brought a chair to any of the games because he was always walking up and down the field following the progress of his daughters - it was always so amazing and refreshing to watch such a loving and supportive family. Of course we always preferred being on the same team as #23 than playing against her, because we knew she'd bring the heat! Payton - We know your sister is gone and we cannot express how sad we are for your loss, but please remember that you have so much support in the lacrosse community and that every Utah lax player loves you like a sister and will be cheering you on when you hit the field again. Ron and Michelle, I am so very sorry for your loss. I hope you can take at least a little solace in the fact that you raised such a wonderful daughter who made a difference in so many lives. Thoughts and prayers are with you.
