Marian Lindsay Obituary

Marian Bangerter Lindsay

December 13,1928 ~

December 18, 2022

South Jordan, Utah-Marian Bangerter Lindsay, 94, died December 18, 2022, of congestive heart failure. She was in her home in South Jordan, Utah, where she was surrounded by her family.

Marian lived an abundant life. She was born December 13, 1928, in Granger, Utah, to William Henry and Isabelle Bawden Bangerter as the eighth of eleven children.

Marian graduated from Cyprus High School in 1947 where she was elected class secretary three years in a row. She attended Brigham Young University.

On November 17, 1949, Marian married Richard Powell Lindsay in the Salt Lake Temple.

The two of them cherished and served each other in life for more than 60 years. They established a home filled with faith and love that continues to bless three generations of their large family.

Marian went about doing good for others everywhere she lived, particularly in Taylorsville where she spent more than half of her years.

For nearly two decades Marian worked in the administration office of Salt Lake Community College in Taylorsville.

Marian performed faithfully in the many callings of leadership and service she received in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She supported Richard in his numerous church responsibilities and worked at his side for three years in countries across Africa as he filled his role as Africa Area president.

Through her kindness and love Marian developed deep relationships with people all over the world. She and Richard routinely and graciously opened their home to friends, family and visitors from five continents. Everyone was welcome for dinner or for watermelon and chocolate cake on the patio.

Marian is survived by children Bruce (Shari), Gordon (Kathleen), Susan Gong (Gerrit), Sharon Lyons (Doug), John (Ann), and Mimi Warnick (Paul), 26 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren and sister Naomi Christofferson (Leonard).

Marian was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Grant, Sam, Blauer, Norman and David, sisters Sarah Hardy, Pauline Jensen, Elsbeth Hansen and Gleneth Wilson.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, December 22 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the River Ridge 10th Ward Meetinghouse located at 1409 W Shields Lane, (9800 S) in South Jordan, and on December 23 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Funeral services will be held at the same location on Friday, December 23 at 11:00 a.m.

Funeral service will be live streamed at https://zoom.us/j/93471481245 . Interment at the Taylorsville Cemetery.

The family thanks Marian's wonderful neighbors and friends who returned the love she shared so freely with them throughout her life. Also, appreciation to her recent caregivers: Visiting Angels, Health Watch, and McDougal Funeral Home.

My heartfelt condolences to the Lindsay and Bangerter families as we share their loss. It was an honor to be in this generation with Marian and her family as our families watched and were a part of the growing up and building of the communities of Granger and Taylorsville.

To the entire Lindsay Family,
Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of your amazing mother. She welcomed me into your home when I was a young returned missionary headed to BYU, having served with Bruce in Tahiti, and having no family in the United States. She and your father graciously invited me to spend my first few days after my arrival and my first American Christmas in your home. It is a kindness I shall never forget. She has been so dear to me ever since. I will never forget her gentleness and her sweet smile. May knowing of our Father's Great Plan of Happiness give you comfort and peace at this tender time.

To the Bangerter and Lindsay families I send my love and condolences. Growing up in Taylorsville, many nights were spent with my grandparents and running into Marian and Richard at Reams or at the drug store on Redwood. My grandmother (Edith Evans)and mom (Kathleen Evans) would tell me stories of your families and how much they loved you all. I hope you all find peace and comfort in knowing you will all be together again. With all my love. <3

I met Marian 17 years ago when I moved into Reunion Glen. I moved in across the street from her. She was such a gracious and loving woman. She welcomed me into the neighborhood and became an instant friend. We had some great talks and really good laughs. I will miss her a lot. I hope to live my life the way she did always in an upbeat mood. She was like the energizer bunny! She told me once that she was shrinking in size so much that when she passed all they would just have to sweep her up!!! Well I am sure God swept her up into His arms and is holding her close. God Bless her.

What a sweet ANGEL you mom is. My husband and I rented your duplex early in our marriage. My little son used to come over for breakfast often. (your family was gracious with him. No permission from his parents.) I have thought of your parents so often through the years. Hard to say good-bye, but glorious for those on the other side. She was a beautiful person inside and out and even though our connection was a short time, I loved her and your dad. Prayers of comfort for your family. Colleen Burrows Van Wagoner.
