Mark Raymond Clements
Mark Raymond Clements 12/6/1966 ~ 1/19/2007 Many hearts are heavy at this time with the passing of a valiant man, Mark Raymond Clements, 40, of Draper, Utah. His death came at the end of a 15 month struggle with cholangiocarcinoma, a rare form of liver cancer. Mark's desire from the time of his diagnosis was that he spend as much valuable time with his family as possible. Mark and Marianne found their greatest joy in their children, and loved to attend all of their activities. Mark was born in Gridley, California to C. Ray and Mary Clements. Mark attended Pleasant Grove High School where he was active in many sports. He served an LDS Mission to Louisville, Kentucky. He returned home and married the love of his life, Marianne Murdock on May 18, 1989 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He attended Brigham Young University and received his Bachelors Degree. He later attended law school at Stanford University and graduated with honors. He was a partner in the law firm of Hatch, James and Dodge of Salt Lake. He also worked in the firm of BTJD and PB& L of Salt Lake. Mark served on the High Council of the Corner Canyon Stake in Draper at the time of his diagnosis. He was a wonderful speaker and teacher and a dedicated servant of the Lord. Mark loved BYU sports and traveled to many away games with friends and family. Mark is survived by his wife Marianne and four children: Patrick (16), Chase (13), Tessa (8), Lucas (1); father, C. Ray Clements (Lana), Salt Lake; mother, Mary C. Lay, Pleasant Grove; siblings: Kelley Giles (Geret), Pleasant Grove; Stacie Lindsey (Bryan), Herriman; and Amy Pollock (Rick), Stansbury Park. Funeral services will be held at Saturday, January 27, at 11:00 a.m. in the Corner Canyon Stake Center, 13366 S. 1300 E., Draper. Family and friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Olpin Family Mortuary at 494 S. 300 E., Pleasant Grove and on Saturday at the Stake Center one hour prior to services. Interment will be at the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at

I was saddened to hear the news of your loss and wanted to offer you my deepest condolences. Moving to Pleasant Grove sophomore year wasn't a big thrill but, Mark was an integral part of the neighborhood and ward that made the transition fun. I don't know whether Mark was being kind or wanted further opportunity to tease me when he gave rides to school, but I appreciated it nonetheless. What a guy – I’m sure he will be missed greatly.

Keeping you in my thoughts during this difficult time --

Love & Prayers,

Dear Marianne and family, We read with saddness of the passing of Mark. Many fond memories flooded my mind of experiences shared with Mark in the ninth grade seminary. I still tell my students of a young man who chose to get straight As and read the Book of Mormon everyday in 9th grade. Our prayers are with you. Love Brother Dave and Tamera Taylor

Dear Clements family,

I knew Mark as an enthusiastic boy scout. He was a superb leader, friend and example to all who knew him. I will never forget the conversation and high adventure experienced with him in those early Pleasant Grove days. God bless each of you through this trying time.

Dear Clements Family,

I grew up in Pleasant Grove spending endless hours with Mark and his family jumping on the trampoline, playing basketball in the driveway, and losing to Mark and his sisters in endless board and video games.

I have fond memories of Mark. I always knew that he would grow up to be a great leader, father, and husband. You are fortunate to have had him so close in your lives. I'm sure that we will be honored to see his life and influence as we watch his children grow. Mark is a great, great man.

Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you as we mourn with so many over the loss of one of the Lords most chosen and 'truly delightful'. Mark's spirit was so joyful and approachable. What a gift to all of us who were priviledged enough to know him! We have all suffered a loss. May you truly be carried through this coming week by the many prayers being sent your way.

We have so often thought of you and prayed for a miracle for Mark. As we read the last few postings on your family's site, it is so clear that you and Mark were given many miracles. You will continue in our thoughts and prayers. Just because we are not in the same ward, doesn't mean we aren't here for you.
