My name is Jon Behrmann. I never had the pleasure of meeting Mashall but I have spent a lot of time with his good friend Brett Shaw. I have heard many stories about his character, his humor, and his adventurous spirit. From what I understand is he was a great man and made everyone around him feel loved!!!

Marshall and I had a few classes together up at the University of Utah where we both studied Information Systems. He was a fantastic guy with a wonderful personality. When I saw his picture in the newspaper I was very upset and saddened. My heart and prayers go out to the Higgins family.

Marshall was one of the funniest guys I've ever known. He sure new how to brighten the moment!! I worked with Marshall at Fidelity and there was never a day that went by that he put a smile on everyone's faces. He was a very proud husband and father. He had pictures up of his wife and two girls on his computer and always had the best stories to tell. Marshall is missed very much!! My condolences to Kelly and his girls!

There hasn’t been a time in my life that I can remember that Marshall wasn’t there. We have been the best of friends since our youngest childhood. Marshall is truly an awesome person. Growing up he was always the social one to reach out and introduce the new guy to the circle of friends. I was continually amazed throughout our lives by his calm and peaceful personality, simply one of the greatest examples in my life. I don’t know how many miles we biked, trails we hiked or peaks we conquered but his determination, strength and love for life will not be forgotten. Like a brother he was always there. I have been blessed to have known Marshall throughout my life and to have had such a great friend. All adventures I dedicate to you buddy! Until we meet again good friend, until we meet again…

Kelly and Family please know that my love and prayers are eternally with you.

One Treasured Father

One treasured Father was sent from above

Sent to this earth for you to love

His stay far too short, his mission too brief

Our Savior’s pure love will comfort your grief

His love is perfect for He alone

Could give us a gift, His purpose was known

He broke the barrier of death and pain

Your precious Father will be with you again

Because of His sacrifice on Calvary

Christ made it possible for you and me

To be reunited in celestial glory

Make memories, friendships, and finish our story

This ending is not how this chapter would’ve began

Our Father in Heaven sees the whole plan

This challenge, this pain, so hard to endure

You’re not alone, there’s one who knows more

He knows the heartache that now will not cease

A pain that’s so deep and has no release

Through allowing his son to die on a cross

Father in Heaven gives you hope in your loss

He asks all of us to come unto Him

Our lights must shine brightly and never go dim

Once we’ve done all that we can to obey

Our Savior will carry us the rest of the way

Let the Lord carry you for a time until

Your broken heart begins to heal

The Lord who was perfect chose to submit

To the will of the Father, He chose to commit

To trusting in His all knowing plan

Because of his love, his did it for man

Because the Savior himself bore the cross

You may now feel comfort and peace in your loss

What greater comfort on earth could there be

Than knowing your Father’s in heaven and free

Free from the trials and pain of this earth

His life was a legacy, how noble his birth

Your Father has peace, his spirits’ above

He’s with the Savior, basking in love

Dear Kelly,

We are complete strangers but I was so saddened by your loss as I read about your husband. I recently wrote this poem for my step children who lost their Mother several years ago. May this bring you and your daughters some comfort during this time.

Our families' love goes out to you as we have so recently dealt with the loss of a treasured Mother.

Sincerely,

Sheri Johnson

Marshall will be missed dearly. He was a close friend who I could always confide in. He made many church meetings bearable for me by passing jokes, and talking of biking and snowshoeing trips. His last email to me the night before we left read, “I'm so excited that I hope I can sleep tonight. See you at 4:30am!” He was so eager to climb that mountain that I don’t believe there is anything I could have done to stop him. After frequent stops for his upset stomach, Marshall finally got into the groove and plowed up the mountain, leading the way for most of the trip. The greater the wind blew or the harder it snowed the more he enjoyed it, yelling several times up to the sky “common, is that all you have got!” or “you can do better than that!”. Conversation on the mountain ranged from career, to family to greatest adventures. Marshall spoke with pride and satisfaction about the accomplishments in his life. Of all of the adventures and mountains he has conquered, his greatest satisfaction revealed while speaking of his family. He loved Kelly with all his heart, and absolutely adored Hannah and Emilee. His words on the mountain rang true when I asked about the avalanche danger, his reply being “when it’s your time to go, it’s your time to go”. I take comfort in knowing his contentment with life, and although he has passed on, his presence remains with all those who knew him and we are all better people through knowing him.

I used to work with Marshall at Franklin Quest. He was such a fun guy. I went on a double date with him once and it was a blast. I particularly remember how well he interacted with people. Marshall left an impression on me even though our paths went separate ways. My condolences and thoughts go to your family.

Marshall was a one in a million guy. He had a way of getting to know you it seemed within the first few minutes of ever talking with him. I had the privilege of working with Marshall and got to know him. He was such a fun person to be around, always a smile on his face. He had a funny wit about him. His e-mails were the funnest to read because they were so random that sometimes you had no clue what he was even talking about. Nearly every night before he left work he would turn my mirrors inside or mess with the wiper blades or rig the tailgate on my truck so that when I'd drive off it would fall down with a loud thud! Right away you knew who it was. That's what I'll miss most about Marshall. He truly loved his family. I have little girls just as he does. We always used to talk about how much fun it is to be "daddies" to them. I'm truly blessed to have known you Marshall and look forward to the day when I see you again. Kelly, may the Lord bless you with comfort and continued strength. We think the world of you and your family.

I was very saddened to hear about this loss. Marshall was one of the few people who was kind to me during my teen years- that meant a lot and I have always remembered it. He lived around the corner from me, and was one year older, but he always included me in various activities, let me sit with him at school for lunch, etc.

Even though I have not seen him since those years, Marshall will be sorely missed by me. My condolences to his family.

Marshall was Roll #2036 on the rolls of the Gamma Beta Chapter of Beta Theta Pi at the University of Utah. As Chapter Advisor, I remember him as a bright, handsome college freshman. "Then draw the mystic circle 'round, Hearts and voices blending, Let us pledge each other now, Friendship never ending." His fraternity will miss him dearly. __kai__

Kelly,kids,and family:

Marshall was my supervisor at Convergys, on the HPShopping.com account. I want to offer my condolences to you and your families.

I was in utter and complete disbelief when I heard his name on the news today. It really shook me up.

He was the best supervisor and co-worker I've ever known and I'm a 43 year-old man who has worked many places. Marshall took me under his wing and treated me better than ANYONE I've ever worked with. I could never think of him as "the boss", just a REAL GENUINE friend. I've told a lot of people about my friend, Marshall, after I left HPShopping. "You'd never believe how cool my supervisor, Marshall, was."

I am a ward and stake organist. If you need someone to play some music at the services, please feel free to let me know by e-mail.
