Mary Lasko Obituary

Mary Borich Lasko 1917 ~ 2006 OGDEN - Mary Borich Lasko passed away on Dec. 26, 2006 in West Point, Utah. Mary slipped into a coma from which she did not recover on Christmas Eve. Mary was the daughter of Stevan Borich and Mary Divjak. Mary was born in Highland Boy, Utah, on Nov. 22, 1917, a miners daughter. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Valent J. Lasko; parents and three sisters. Mary's younger life presented her with many struggles for which she overcame, especially when she met and married her husband Valent Lasko on Dec. 28, 1935. Together they had four children. Mary is survived by her children, Fred Lasko (Joyce), Boulder City, NV; Val Lasko Jr. (Jill), ElDorado Hills, CA; Joanne Linford (Gerald), Ogden, and Rosemary Lasko, Salt Lake City; eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 12 great-grand children and three nieces, Mary Wilde, Violet VanAusdal, and Marelo Evans. She is also survived by her sweet dogs Molly and Hannah. Mary was a wonderful mother who became the heart of the Lasko family. She was an avid gardener and homemaker. Mary loved to take long rides to the mountains and trips each summer to the Oregon coast. She enjoyed the company of all her Labradors, Meggie, Annie, Hannah and Molly. The family wishes to thank her hospice friends, Mike Rigby, Diane Sorenson, Dr. Phil Fike, and especially Lola Benstog, Wendy Andrews, and her friend Tina Phippen. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 29 at 1:00 p.m. at Myer's Mortuary at 845 Washington Boulevard, Ogden. Viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to services that day. Interment will be in the Ogden City Cemetery. We will love you forever, Mother and Grandma, thanks for all you've done for us. Donations may be made to Utah Hospice Alliance. Rosemary and Joanne
The center of your family and the love of all your lives has gone, but her heritage remains. Though I didn't know your mother very long, I still remember the day that I sat at her kitchen table and talked with her about Sweets and what Carbon County was like long before I came to live there, in fact long before I was born. I know this is a huge loss for you and that it has taken a particular toll on the two of you. You were both steadfast in your care and love for your mother. I have never seen a more dedicated pair to the care of a parent. Thanks for letting me into your lives to witness this love and dedication.
