Mavis Johnson Obituary

1925 ~ 2013
Mavis Devon Johnson was born on December 26, 1925, in Janesville, Wisconsin. The first daughter of Orrin and Viola Johnson, she was baptized in 1926 into a faith that she lived out all her life in her love of God, family, friend, and neighbor.
Mavis attended Jefferson Elementary and Janesville Senior High School, graduating in 1943. She then attended St. Olaf College in Minnesota and later enrolled in the Army Nurse Corps in 1944.
She married Norman W. Allen on February 20, 1948, at First Lutheran in Janesville and this year celebrated a love that has lasted over 65 years and will never end.
Mavis takes with her from this life the unending love of her husband, Norm, and that of her three sons Stephen (Marilee), John (Cinda Tallent), and David Allen; so, too, the love of her sister Elaine (David) Green and her brother Richard (Barbara) Johnson; her four grandchildren; nieces and nephews and all those in her life who called her friend.
A time to remember Mavis and celebrate her life is planned for Friday, March 22, 2013, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 2500 East, 3900 South, Salt Lake City, Utah, with a gathering and viewing at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. A separate ceremony and interment will take place in Janesville, Wisconsin.
The family wishes, especially, to thank all those who cared for Mavis in the challenging times of the past seven years, not only for their professionalism and skills, but also for their heart and friendship.
Mavis not only believed "Where true charity and love dwell, God is there," she lived it and guided others to that very place.
