Mikayle Workman Obituary

Mikayle Alan Workman

2002-2021

Our sweet, loving Mikayle left us too soon on Saturday, August 14 in Sandy, UT.

Mikayle came into this world tiny, at under 4 pounds, but was strong and fearless from day one. He had a fun-loving, infectious personality and was a friend to everyone he met. He was the definition of a people-person and loved being around others, especially his friends. He was raised in a home full of love by his grandparents with a lot of help from his aunts and uncles.

Mikayle had a group of loving and dedicated life-long friends that he considered his second family. They would drift a little here and there but always come back together in good times and bad. He would say he was getting together with "the gang" and we would know what that meant.

Mikayle loved life and was always looking for the next adventure. He was the preschooler standing on tiptoes to get on the big rides at Disneyland or attempting to backflip into the pool before he learned to swim. As a teenager he could be found cliff jumping, catching wild tarantulas, and always pushing the boundaries. His next plan was learning to skydive with a squirrel suit.

Mikayle also loved the outdoors; hiking, camping, and snowboarding especially. He had a special place in his heart for YMCA Camp Roger where he attended their summer camp every year since he was 11. He recently became a counselor where he adored the children and making camp exciting and special for them.

He worked hard to graduate from high school early so he could serve his country in the United States Marine Corps. We were all so proud when he achieved that goal. He was later discharged for a medical condition. "Once a Marine, Always a Marine."

Mikayle will be deeply missed by all of his friends and family. Our lives will never be the same.

He is survived by his grandparents, Steve and Michelle Workman; brother, Jordan; aunts and uncles, Jessie and Cody Brown, and Melissa and Doug Tryon; great grandmas, Carol Thomas, Glenna Workman, and Letha Rasmussen; along with cousins and great aunts and uncles who love him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Brooke Workman; and great grandparents, Claude Workman and Sandy Whalen.

A memorial graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 So.), Sandy, UT. The family requests that anyone attending is symptom-free, masked, and vaccinated if eligible.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the YMCA Camp Roger. -

Bye Mikayle, I only knew you for one week at summer camp, we bonded a lot actually and figured out we loved the same music and everything. I long to hear your laugh again and I miss when you laughed at me on spaghetti night. I´ll miss you forever man no matter What. Also did you know you got the white rag!? Crazy... I´ll miss when you were my blue rag mentor. Your friend "Tiffany" you know who I´m talking about was my counselor and he was my silver rag mentor, we shared our thoughts about you too. You made my first time at camp roger amazing and you inspired so many people. I miss you lots even though you can´t read this. Bye Bestie.

I am so sorry for the loss of this beautiful soul. I did not know him personally. I grew up with his mom Brooke & by the pictures I can tell he had her smile & love of adventure. Sending thoughts & prayers of love & healing to his family & friends. (Please send a link to the specific YMCA Camp for donations.)

Mikayle was a friend to everyone. He had a way of cheering people up and often looking on the bright side of things. Mikayle had a contagious smile that could light up an entire room. He had the greatest way of thinking and had an answer to everything. I´m so glad I got to call him my friend.

I am sending you thoughts at this time that he made an impact on the world. Camp is an endearing place for so many people - I am thankful he had those times in the mountains. His smile lit up and he was joy.

Mikayle was so important to me for so many years. He loved me like I had never been loved before. I wish so badly I could hear his laugh again.
He took me to my first dance and was the best part of YMCA camp in my final years there. If you knew mikayle you know he would do anything for the people he loved. He was so special and I will never forget everything he did for the people around him.
Grandma Michelle, Grandpa Steve, Mikayle did so many amazing things thanks to your support and love through his entire life. He loved you guys so much.
Please give Murray scratches for me. I love you 3 so much.
I can´t believe this is even real. It feels like a sick dream that I´m going to wake up in a cold sweat in my bunk bed back at camp.
I know he had the best summer ever being able to spend 7 weeks at his favorite place in the world. He was my brown rag mentor and my best friend at camp. We were inseparable to a point where we both almost got kicked out for being too close literally all the time. Everyone thought we were dating, when we were just the best Power Team Partners, or "PTP!" As mikayle often said.
Mikayle gave the best hugs. He would hold you until you felt any sadness leave your body. Two days after we first met at camp in 2016 I had a terrible panic attack and this kid didn´t leave my side for a moment. Holding me as a cried he made sure I was okay again.
He´s told me I´ve saved his life. Multiple times. Im so thankful to have been that for him but it makes it so hard I couldn´t be there for this one. I am so sorry Mikayle. Whatever you were feeling was so undeserved because you have nothing but love in your bones. I love you forever PTP. I´ll "never forgetti the night of spagetti"

Mikayle, you are the bravest man I have ever met in my life. I can't describe how much I've always looked up to you. Your charisma and humor, your ability to push any signs of fear down and just go for it. In middle school you were truly one of my best friends. Whenever I was in a dark place, you would always have my back. I always felt outcast and alone, but you were never hesitant on giving me a place to hang out during lunch time. Whether we were joking, debating, or just chilling, you gave me some of my fondest memories of school. My moving to California may have caused us to fall out of touch, but I promise that no more than a month would go by where you didn't cross my mind. Truly one of the most down to earth people I have ever met, and I hope you'll still have my back like you did back then. Thank you for everything, Mikayle. Let's hang out again sometime, alright? Just have a few things I need to do first, but we should plan something together someday. I miss you man.
Sincerely, Mr. Bueno
