Mildred Koew Obituary

Mildred "Millie" Koew
1926 ~ 2012
Mildred R. Koew, age 85, passed away April 24, 2012 peacefully in her sleep at home. She was born to Howard R. Russell and M. LaRue Morgan October 20, 1926, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She grew up in Salt Lake City where she attended South High School. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served a mission to New England and later in life she worked in the Salt Lake Temple. She worked at church headquarters until her marriage to William H. Koew on June 19, 1952 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple; he preceded her in death in 1982. She helped Bill raise three children from a previous marriage along with two children of her own. While raising their children she also worked for Service Press Inc. She later became a co-owner of the printing company after Bill's passing. She sold the company but continued to work until the young age of 82. She served in many callings in the church and even served with Bill on the General Board of the church, overseeing dance festivals. They would travel all over to teach members of the church to dance. They worked together to create dances and oversee huge church wide dance festivals. She had many hobbies like painting and crafts, but her favorite was sewing, which she excelled at. She traveled with friends and loved having people come by to visit. Towards the end of her life she loved visits from family and ward members, especially her late night ice cream parties. She loved her great- grandchildren and enjoyed the time they came to play and visit.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and stepson (Gary). She is survived by her son John (Debbie) Koew, Mrs. Deborah (Richard) Dickinson and stepdaughters, Mrs. Karen (Ron) Payne and Connie Koew. Sixteen grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy (Russ) Williams and Mrs. Suzanne (Ray) Hansen. The family would like to thank the special young women and women who showed so much love in helping and caring for Millie the last few years of her life.
Graveside Services will be Monday April 30, 2012, at 12:00PM at the Salt Lake Cemetery. Friends and family may call the night prior, Sunday April 29th, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple.
