Nicholas Lister Obituary

May 31, 1983 ~ July 25, 2014
Nicholas Lister, our beloved husband, son, brother, grandson, uncle, and friend passed away on the evening of July 25, 2014, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Nick was born May 31, 1983, in Cedar City, Utah, to Tony D. Lister and Carol Carroll. Nick married the love of his life, Lynsey Lawrence, in November 2012, and they started their lives together with bright hope for their future. Shortly after, they added to their family with two puppies, Sadie and Piper. Their little family was everything to him and he loved them with all his heart.
He lived life with a great and, at times, overwhelming passion. He loved to take care of people and often referred to himself as a mother hen. His great passion was being in the kitchen and cooking for others, he loved being host. He also loved hunting and spending time up on the mountain outside of Cedar City on his family's land.
Nick was proud of his service in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 2012 after five years of active duty. He made an impression on everyone he met including many high-ranking officers. Though he never deployed, he was higher decorated than some of his fellow soldiers who had deployed in his unit.
Nick is survived by his wife Lynsey, his mother Carol Carroll and stepfather Douglas Carroll, his brothers Christopher Lister (Julie), Cory LeFevre, Patrick Carroll (Aimee) and Sean Carroll(Rachelle), his sisters Lisa Carroll and Colleen Marble (Zack) and his grandmothers Zola Lister and Kay Sheehan, as well as many nieces and nephews, and his new family (Ken, Sherie, Kara, Brad, Jessica and Annie Lawrence) who all loved him very much.
He was preceded in death by his father, Tony D Lister, his grandfathers Dee Lister and William Sheenhan, his beloved niece, Samantha "Sammie" Carroll and his loyal border collie, Lola.
Friends and family are welcome to come on Saturday, August 2, 2014, at the LDS Chapel located at 4558 South 600 East, Salt Lake City, Utah from 11:00am to 12:30pm to express their love and share their memories of Nick. Funeral services will begin at 1:00pm. Funeral Directors Neil O'Donnell & Sons.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hearts 4 Paws, a local animal adoption and rescue group.

This news is shock and I can't wrap my head around it. Lister was a soldier that cared for others. He was selfless and always willing to help anyone. I was his team leader and his friend. He was always talking about how much loved (at then) his fiance and everytime he saw her it would put his mind, body and spirit at ease. This news of his death bothers me because he was too young and misunderstood. I miss you man, I miss my friend.

Nick had a great zest for life, always in perpetual motion, never a idle moment. My sister's youngest son will be forever in our memories and loved by all whose lives he touched.
