I am sad and sorry about cute Uncle Nick. He was one of the few who showed me his love of Kauai. Forever I will be grateful. He was such a kind and gentle soul. I loved him and will miss him. I surround you will love.

Dear Marion and family,
We heard just this morning of Nick's passing and offer our sincere condolences. He was one of the finest men we have ever known. Henry was just one of dozens of younger men and women whom Nick unselfishly mentored and befriended. He will be sorely missed.
Best always,
Henry and Lorraine Chanin

The children of Steve & Marilyn Smoot send our sympathies and condolences to Marion and to Nick's entire family. Our parents LOVED Nick & Marion and counted them among their dearest friends.

As a young man, I remember Nick as an intelligent, thoughtful and reserved man. Marilyn was a childhood friend of Marion's and with that close relationship came swimming and Christmas parties with the Smoot & Smith kids in our early years. I thought the Smith girls were "way cute" and looked forward to those parties.

Several times over the past few decades, I have wanted to visit with Nick & Marion and exchange ideas on many topics of interest. I'm sorry I didn't try my best to make that happen!
