Ila - We were much saddened to hear of your loss with Phil's passing. It has been a long time, but we still remember well the good times we had with you and Phil while we were in Salt Lake.

Ila,
I remember washing and ironing Phil's shirt for your first date. He was so excited, that I felt excited for him. The very next day he told me he had a surprise for me . . . he was getting married. I was so thrilled. He showed me your picture and I was stunned by your beauty. You looked like a princess. I can still picture your photo in my head.
I was only 12 at the time, but I adored him. He is the only big brother I've ever had. He played army with us, caught us when we jumped out of grandma's trees, swung us in his huge arms until we were dizzy, and flung us into the air for "rocket rides." His incredible smile made everything okay. He brightened everyday for me. He gave me the most memorabgle birthday gift I have ever received, a beautiful jointed ballerina doll. I will treasure your Phillip always.
I remember his hard labor in digging our family's basement, water and sewer connections, and every other thing we needed. He did more work around our house than any backhoe could. He even built the rembarkable "Phillip's Cadillac" that all us Metcalf children talk about to this day.
Phillip was a precious and irreplaceble part of our growing up. We never have a family reunion without talking about some Phil memory, some funny, zaney, wonderful and rich memory only he could contribute to our childhood. I loved him. We all did.
Thank you for making his life wonderful and fulfilled. Please share this with your children and grandchildren so they will know how precious his impact was on our lives as well.

Sharon and family, I'm sorry for your loss! Too young! I'm sorry LaRelia and I won't be able to attend the services Saturday, as we are leaving for Oregon Friday. Consider this a hug until I get to see you! Peace... Love....

We will miss that big smiling face and all the great stories. The summer BBQ will just be different now. Hope all the family can know he is in a much more peaceful place.
